Agreed on the 1st part for sure. We extended him to be the guy at te then a new coaching staff came in with other plans. The right thing for both sides is to give him a new home. We get cap space, and 1 less possible disgruntled player his career doesn't get ruined.

People also forget it took him until like game 5 this season to really shake the PTSD he had from all the drops here. He had some bad drops for Pitt before things got better.

I think with Kittle he'd finally be able to work through it without the pressure of being the man, and being the player defenses focus on. Unfortunately that's not what a rebuilding team wants from a player with his price tag. It was time to move on.

They definitely won the trade. But it needed to happen. He had like 1 positive play for every 10 negative ones. But for folks saying we should have kept him, does the same patience exist for other guys who have a similar ratio of good to bad plays? Or guys who at least flashed some potential here and there? No one that is pro McDonald, who took 6 years and a 2nd contract to put it all together, should be on the cut Trent Taylor bandwagon.

I doubt Vance would've worked through it without getting lots of targets. Some of us who were his last supporters wanted this for years, but to no avail. I'm just glad we have Kittle who has everything we could want in a TE.

Yeah, I think Pheonix and I were the last of his supporters but this needed to happen. Now we need to do something with the cap saving to add some win to our end.

This...exactly. He got better and better the more targets he got. Cold, he was terrible.

I knew the second he went to Pittsburgh, he would be used correctly.

Delanie was the same way. He had a few drop issues with us but once his volume went up, his confidence and ability increased.

If he would have caught the balls he should have, you would have said he was used correctly here.

JAWS MickiDs just didn't fit here... the guy worked hard and had talent but for some reason, he couldn't put it together here.. he was too inconsistent...

I'm glad to see him doing well in Pittsburgh, he's more of their type of player anyhow.. but as u see, Kittle has been the type of TE we've had over the years... even that overrated OTHER #85, I was never a fan of..

Does not make sense to me.
The other thing that people seem to be doing is overvaluing what he is doing for Pittsburgh right now.

Vance is not having a markedly better season in Pitt than he had with us, if at all. He is healthy, so at least there's that.
