The players were smart enough to know that the officials were not willing to decide the Super Bowl with a call. That smart, heady play paid off well for them.

Well actually they DID decide a Super Bowl. Think about it. That was 4th and goal with 1:45 left. How can you say they didnt decide a Suoer Bowl? They actually CHOSE a side. Please validate your claim.

ok lets say we got a flag and a new set of downs. whos to say we punch it in? our play calling was s**t for the 3 plays prior. fans like to assume the td is a given when it isnt.

The officials were AFRAID, TERRIFIED, PETRIFIED of making a call at that moment. The Ravens probably knew this instinctively. It's not like they had it in their game plan, or that it was called in from the box. Bad officials are usually scared officials.
The Ravens players played extra rough on that last drive, ESPECIALLY on that 4th down because they figured it would be more difficult for the officials to throw a flag. This isn't some new thing, it's not the first time officials have been scared to death of making a tough call.

So yes, they CHOSE a side. But they would rather "choose" a side by not throwing a flag, then choose a side by throwing a flag. If they throw that flag, then the entire Ravens fanbase and organization is crying about it from the other side of the coin and blaming one particular ballsy ref.

That's the other point. There was no guaranteed score and no guaranteed defensive stand.

Man f**k that we punch that s**t easily with Dixon, gore or kaep sweeping around the d especially without ngata

And then we easily convert a 2 point attempt? Easily shut down the Ravens, who had 3 timeouts, from a field goal attempt? Easily run out the clock and easily win?

The holding on Crab was bad. Others that bothered me were the no holding call on Dixon in the end zone on the safety & Williams shoving the ref during the fight. I mean you shove the ref and no call or ejection? Right there I knew it was going to be hard to get calls from the refs today

This and we get called offside and Reed doesn't

You never know cause the refs screwed us of the right to find out.

Just another reason why I hated the playcalling there. Our bread-and-butter in the redzone has been the run / read-option. Just a few plays back we mauled their D-line off the LOS on Gore's big run. We had them right were we wanted them. We didn't play to our strength. I can't remember the last time we scored on a successful fade route. We didn't even account for any possible blitzers. Terrible sequence.

Then the refs would have been free of blame. Thats like someone being shot and killed, then you say "lets say he would not have gotten shot, who's to say he would not have been hit by a car". Are you serious man? You cannot use the unknown to justify not making that call. You let the game play out, not hold calls because "they might not score". No offense, but how old are some of you guys using this crazy logic?

That's why I shouted when gore broke that long run that were gonna score too fast because I absolutely had no faith in our secondary to prevent them from moving into fg position

That's even what the Madden SB sim would have not seen coming.
Was it a hold? Yes. But who cares now...we can't sit here and keep thinking about it because nothing is going to change. Our energy has to be focused on next season now.

Really? And the 9ers fanbase are not blowing up the net behind not calling the hold? Either way, you will not be favored, but what the FAIR thing to do is CALL THE PENALTY AS WARRANTED. That way you do what is right. As opposed to appeasing a particular fanbase on unethical terms. I mean.....Does that not make sense?
