I believe it was ranked #1 during the GSOT.

Buncha fair weather fans. I love my Rams team and travel to see them play every year - including during this losing last decade. The empty St. Louis stadiums are terrible and the people in StL don't seem to care - at least from my experience when I talk to them.

These are 2015 rankings. Also, it depends when you went to the stadium. When they were known as one of the worst teams in the NFL and put a terrible product on the field for over a decade, then yeah, the attendance was low. That is how it works with any sports team. Check out the 49ers recent empty seats everywhere. Its just common sense. Not just in St. Louis, but anywhere. You put a terrible product on the field for 10+ years...not many people are going to pay to watch it.

When the team is competitive they were selling out every game. I posted the 1999 attendance a few pages back.

I was just wondering about this - I had no idea there was a StL Rams fan on this board. Where was the Rams love the last few years?

wait...I just skimmed this but it goes by winning percentage (baseball & hockey), not saying the best fans? Being good is different than being loved.

Ignore susweel Arizona. He is just a troll. I am not a Rams fan. I'm a 49ers fan that lives in St. Louis. This isn't necessarily about the Rams, but more so about the city of St. Louis for me.

Agreed. I never said anything about "best fans". I said #1 sports town. The title of the article says "Ranking America's Top Sports Cities in 2015--New York OK, Philadelphia Terrible".
Also, if the Owner of the Rams wants out of STL, doesn't that say a lot of what he thinks about STL? I know other owners get a vote, and the league, but damn...he owns the s**t. If he doesn't want to have a team there and LA wants him, and the league wants a team in LA, let the dude go.

I only care because I would go see a game in LA but I wouldn't go see one in STL. I like my options. Plus less travel.
@jrg - I've been attending Rams games for the last 5 years in StL and around the country. Last two years I decided to spend my $$ in other cities to see the Rams as I was so disappointed by the support for the Rams in StL. And, I am not just talking about on game day - I mean in general when you talk to people in the city, at bars or restaurants, or just being out and about.

Most people I have personally talked to in StL don't much care about them and I've received several lectures on why going all the way back to Bidwell and the Cardinals and hating the NFL.

It's just my personal experience. I'm sure there are lovely Rams fans there as well. But, I compare it to a place like Philly which is super passionate and has never won a Superbowl. Watching the Rams there was awesome last year.

Anyway....I didn't know you were a fellow Rams fan. Nice! Sucky but kinda fun year we just had.

Well that's my point. The owner called it a two sports town. He doesn't feel the love from the Rams fan base and thinks he would be more successful in LA. So being good shouldn't have anything to do with the team being loved. The article really doesn't have anything to do with the discussion is my point. Just says the Cards and Blues are good.

Right. The Rams don't have support from EVERYBODY like the Cardinals do because of them constantly being terrible. They're awful every single season and after every season you don't hear a peep out of the owner of the team on improving the club. It should say a lot that the MAYOR of St. Louis has never had a word with Kroenke. He is a terrible owner and when a team is consistently bad you know it has to start at the top. Kroenke is disliked by fanbases of every team he owns. Its a consistent cloud over every Rams fans head because they are always bad and there is 0 sign of change. So of course you'll hear that at bars, restaurants, etc.

It depends who you talk to. I know people who are die hard Rams fans and have owned season tickets since 1995. I also know people who don't give a s**t because they know nothing is going to change. The city has been BEGGING for someone to purchase the Rams from Kroenke for years now.

Again, as I stated before, I am not a Rams fan. I'm a 49ers fan that lives in St. Louis.

Do you believe anything that comes out of Kroenke's mouth? The same guy that just in 2010 said himself he planned on making St. Louis a great football market? He never planned that. He bought the Rams with intentions of moving them to Los Angeles as we currently see in 2016. Also, this article wasn't posted as any type of defense for the Rams in St. Louis. Was just pointing out STL at the top of the list.

Because I live in the city?

I'm a 49ers fan that want the Rams to stay here for the SAME reason people on this forum want them to come to LA. That one game a year.

boast is begging for the Rams to come here. Not because he is a Rams fan, but because he wants that 1 game a year. I figured this was known.

Maybe he thought if he hyped it up, the fans would start pouring in and loving the Rams. Didn't work so now he is thinking, f**k this place. Take me to LA. That way if the team sucks, at least the fans look good.
