Jim Harbaugh Thread - HC Chargers

If Jim wants to take the high road, he should just stop talking about his dismissal, beat OSU, win the Big 10, become an even better coach, and make the 49ers regret they ever wanted to let him go. His revenge will be winning an NCAA title or SuperBowl and seeing Tomsula flame out.

Like Harbaugh or not, the way the front office handled this whole situation was pure amateur hour.

I agree with this. Jed needed (needs) to own the coaching change. Jed needs to stop having other people do the talking. His big failure in the Tomsula introductory presser was that Baalke and Tomsula had to do all the talking. It's Jed's responsibility to make the decision and stand by it. He should have butted in for any question that remotely dealt with Harbaugh and the remaining staff. Baalke and Tomsula should have talked football only. Jed set them up to fail in that presser.

Jed should look to Joe Lacob and Vivek Ranadive. Lacob fired Jackson, risked losing most of the roster, and ended up hiring his golf buddy. Ranadive promotes cherry picking, thinks his youth coaching experience makes him special, and has three coaches in one season. However flawed, Lacob and Ranadive still project the image of bosses that are decisive on their path to become winners. Jed has shown solid decision-making over his tenure, but as a leader, he's got to develop his Boss Mode.

Don't get why Niner fans would be divided. Jim Harbaugh's tenure had run its course in San Fran. Do we not get that he was UNWILLING to part ways with the likes of Greg Roman ? Had we somehow managed to keep him as our HC, whats the chance he would've let Baalke / York handpick his coordinators. Whats the chance that he would be willing to change offensive philosophies ? This disaster of a season had a lot more than do with bad coaching than with bad front office mgmt. And Harbaugh's / Roman's fingerprints were all over it. Looking back, I can see why guys like Deion reported the locker room being a mess.

Jim was great, but he couldn't get us over the hump with a loaded team in 3 straight years. Good riddance.

He's an overrated coach that couldn't make halftime adjustments, manage a play clock, or adjust when his neolithic offense was figured out. He was more flash than substance, and I laugh at anyone who thinks otherwise.

The defense, Vic Fangio's defense, kept Harbaugh in the game. Too bad Harbaugh let Roman ruin their chances with stupidity.

He has a s**t ton of players from Stanford in the NFL.

He has a couple... SC is still putting more guys in the league and they just got off sanctions. And Harbaugh's Stanford was NOT putting a ton of talent into the NFL... Shaw is prepping more talent.

Jim's got his work cut out for him the next couple of years. Hopefully he'll be stomping Meyer's ass before long.
lol
uh Michigan has been after Jim for years. Jim got the job because he was available. Brady Hoke was a plan B when Harbs went to the 9ers, every other coach they look at was a plan B. It's always been Jim's job for the taking.

Michigan offered Butch Jones the job in December, while Jim was busy tanking our season, and he turned them down. It was in the news, lol. So, it wasn't, in fact, his job for the taking, he's at least the second guy to have been offered the job.

I guess you haven't been paying attention since before Harbaugh became the 49ers head coach.

and they never offered the job to anyone, the only thing that was reported was they contacted many coaches about a possible vacancy before Brady was let go. Butch just said he wasn't interested either way.

Considering the latter has zero games together in their current positions, this really is just conjecture. I'm betting you knew nothing to very little about roman/fangio 4 years ago. Also, JT has a better nfl track record than JH had at this point 4 years ago. I swear some of y'all acted like the 9ers have some dudes from the local YMCA coaching the team now. If JH wanted to continue coaching the niners then he could have signed the extension in either of the prior off seasons. If JH wanted to continue coaching the niners, then he could have made the obvious coaching changes that were needed on the offensive side of the ball. At this point, JH has a vested interest in the failure in the niners. A lot of us, after watching for 4 seasons, see him as either overrated or very flawed as a coach. If JT wins the Super Bowl next season, then JH will be exposed.

No job was ever offered to BJ, they reached out to gauge his interest and potentially set up an interview and he declined.

Some of the posts in this thread remind me of how I sounded when Lane Kiffin was hired at SC.

Even if Butch was hired in December, Michigan would fire him as short as a second after if Jim wanted the job.
