Not sure if this belongs in the right forum, but how bout Matt Flynn for our QB next year. He is signed through 2011. Everybody is talking about trading for Kolb, but Flynn looks a qb that GB may trade for considering they already have their franchise QB. So far he looks really good against NE, even though this is just one game. Just wanted to get your guys thoughts.

I heard McCarthy might be interested in Alex Smith as a backup in GB. Maybe our new GM (assuming we will hire one) will convince him to release flynn for us.

not enough game time for him to be able to tell if he is an NFL starter or a career backup

I kind of agree. But if there is enough game film then GB would want a lot more for him. As a question mark, we can get him for less and not give up too much.

Quote:
On December 19th, 2010, Flynn made his first NFL start against the New England Patriots after starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers was not cleared medically to start. Rodgers suffered his second concussion of the season the previous week against the Detroit Lions. Flynn threw three touchdown passes to John Kuhn, James Jones and Greg Jennings in the first half of his start against New England, but threw an interception for a touchdown in the second half.

You do realize he's having a good day against the 31st ranked passing defense in the NFL...and that last week against Detroit, 13th ranked pass defense, he sported a 62 QB rating with a 0-1 TD/INT ratio?

With more veteran quarterbacks in Mcnabb, Palmer and Orton likely up for grabs, I'd rather take a chance on one of them.
