He's basically getting the shaft because he's not one of Baalke's guys...which is beyond lame. We should be developing him....he has the talent to warrant that.
Mays doesn't make that play for us against Atlanta, and we aren't even in that game for Clements to fumble away.
You don't think Harbaugh knows what Mays can/can't do, his weaknesses/strengths, etc., compared to the other safeties on the roster? Mays hasn't had the chance to show us (the fans) anything, but he sure showed Harbaugh over the last few seasons what he's capable of from the safety spot, which tells you all you need to know as to why they're trying to trade him.

Something is always better than nothing. Keep him for ST. Totally agree he has the physical gifts. Who knows, he may be exceptional in ST and become better trade bait or worth keeping.
Just letting him go for nothing when he could fill a hole [ST] seems a better solution.
is not good bussiness, paying a guy sencond round money to only play ST.

Harbaugh has already said that Mays lacks the quick twitch stuff.

Why do you think Mays fell from being a projected top 10 player? He went back to school and was picked in the 2nd round by us the next year, and most experts thought that was still to high.

Taylor has handle this dumb decision like a pro. The way it was communicated was absolutely awful on all levels for a spots organization. Baalke didn't like Mays..but you don't put the kid on the trading block the way he did. Very junior move and not professional. We will pay for this mistake on letting Taylor go later down the road. At 23 yrs old...not pro athlete should have to go through this BS.

Who cares. At least Baalke didn't do him dirty like get his hopes up and then pass him up for another player like his EX coach did. Why should he be miffed? It is a new coaching staff that doesn't feel he fits into anything they are trying to do.

I cant quote right now, but @ GoGetit, The niners did what agents do all the time. i read Drew risenhouse sent an email to all NFL team stating Goldson was willing to take a 1 year 3 million dollar contract. He also did it for some of his other unsigned clients.

Baalke is a freaking amateur who is in over his head as a GM. Why pay so much for a coach in Harbaugh and then settle for a dilettante like Baalke instead of hiring a real GM?

Baalke is an amateur because he is trying to get something for a wasted 2nd round pick? Mays isn't good, that is wahy he fell out of the top 10 in 1 year and people were wondering why we picked him with better players on the board.

How agents do business is not how NFL general managers do business. There is a commonly accepted way to conduct yourself, and what Baalke did was not only a n00b move, he also undercut himself out of a potential trade.

How did he undercut himself? He doesn't have to trade him. He is still young and can develop. It might light a fire under him, but he doesn't have the skill set as of now, and most teams knew that on draft day.

At least we will get something out of his talent. It is better than trading him for a 5th round pick that has a high chance of never making this team.
