Mays was a huge waste of a #2... Apparently the only one that wanted to draft him (Singletary) is now gone. Keep in mind, that when he was drafted it was a few weeks after McCloughan left, and Baalke was not the GM, only acting GM, so there was a bit of a power struggle and leadership vacuum on the team. I suspect that Baalke didn't have the sack stand his ground and Singletary won the argument.
The new regime decided to cut their loses and get what they could. As for sending out a mass email, it's no different then letting a player go out and seek their own deal.
So stop crying, sell your Mays jersey and move on.

we have been doing good picking up talent in later rounds, so might as well stock up on 4ths and 5ths.
Also btw, that makes sense, they didnt let him practice or play, so he wouldn't get hurt.
I noticed that too, which is why I figured the issue wasn't over. Also I guess the mass email worked.

I wonder if fan boards on other teams roll up similar pages of posts about players who leave, never to be heard from again, i.e., Thomas Clayton, Korey Sheets, Nate Davis, and now Mays. Not trying to be snide...just wondering.

GM Trent Baalke stated that this was the highlight of his NFL career, proving Mike Singletary wrong that Jimmy Clausen would be better than Taylor Mays.
I recall specifically you and I being staunchly opposed to that pick and we were getting flamed here for it, well you were more so than I.

+1 seems like every move the niners make people feel like they have to make their own separate threads. There's a dedicated thread for a reason...
Sorry OP but unless you're someone who's perspective I should pay extra attention to, I don't give a f**k.
So for that reason, I throw up one of these and leave:

Yeah, but the story's been written on that. Bill Walsh lucked into #42. He wanted Kenny Easley -- but the Seahawks grabbed him first. #42 was the fallback pick.
Sometimes, you get lucky.
