Big Mac is the one benefitting from this the most this. I'm rooting for Vance!

qnn, it sure seems to me that the 9ers have dumped all over Vernon, first asking him to just be an OLineman, with very few passing plays, then we get crabs going and Vernon gets forgotten. (Put that one on roman). Then injuries and we look to Vernon again, but once crabs is healthy, Vernon gets forgotten. So it seems that the 9ers have crapped on Vernon early and often, and he is now responding in kind. I feel bad for the guy, because he has done everything asked of him. But when it comes time for passes to be thrown, we discard him or ignore him. That sucks and is one of the things I really dislike about roman...and JH to some extent. To have a talent like Vernon and not use him to the best of his abilities is a crying shame, and roman gets an F- for his non-use of Vernon in the passing game. OTOH, roman is just a run caller, not truly an OC...even tho that is his title. Somebody who is a true OC, and not just a run play caller, needs to be in charge if we are to get the best out of Vernon. I think Vernon realizes this (or has for sometime) and his dis-satisfaction with the way he has NOT been used has gotten to him...and I think that is a legit complaint.

Our problem is we still, 4 yrs in, have a run play OC, and not a true OC. Not utilizing Vernon as he should have been used is just one of the many failures of roman. The others are TNTC (too numerous too count). I think this is all on roman, and NOT on Vernon. I would be pizzed too if I were in Vernon's shoes.

VD been a total team player in every regard on the field and with the team. Makes me wonder if the dude is frustrated with his situation in the Niners' offense. Passive -aggressively getting attention off the field to counter the frustration. If I can't get my catches and TDs, I'm gonna get as much money and attention for myself.

What's ironic is, he is getting a lot of attention from the defense just about every time he goes out on a pattern. Defenses respect him a lot in the damage he can do to them. There are at least 2 guys looking at him getting off the line. We have more talent at WR than any recent years that I can remember, so hopefully they can open things up for VD more than before.

jesus with this. he is not going anywhere. you get rid of him, you better have a plan to replace him with someone just as better
1. aldon gets in multiple problems,, keep him he is a good guy
2 cully gets in trouble, keep him he is a good guy
3 ck wants a new deal with more money, pay him
4 gore wanted a new deal with more money,, pay him
5 vernon who has been a model team mate and difference maker on the field may want a new deal or an extension, he mentions the world brand and all of a sudden he needs to be traded.

Davis is one of my favorite players and has been for awhile...if our offensive coaching staff actually knew how to get pass catchers open his stats would be even better. He is, and has been, the best all-around TE in the league for years.

I hope he finishes his career here, I think he just wants an extension, not more money necessarily.

The question for the organization is what do you do with a player whose speed is his major asset, but who is aging.
without VD in the playoffs the last 3 years the niners dont advance past anyone. he carried the team and made the tough catches and crucial blocks when we needed someone to step up. dude shows up when we need him, all this talk about trading him and we'll be ok without him is b******t.

I never said he was better than Vernon but that he is benefitting from the extra reps.
I think Vernon knows his production is going to decrease now that we have a deep WR corps. He's just trying to get that final big payday. This crap about his brand is already getting old. He's wise to approach financial opportunities away from football, but it shouldn't interfere. I think he's going to lose this power struggle with the front office.

I sure hope so. I'll take a balanced offense where you have no idea who's getting the ball over an offense with a couple of superstars who get all the attention any day. A huge part of playing defense is anticipating what the offense is gonna do. I think that's why Alex Smith was relatively easy to defend in SF (you may disagree, but I think he was limited in that respect). If the ball gets distributed more evenly, the defense won't be able to key on a guy or two and stop the offense.

Last year there was no Stevie Johnson, and there was very little Vance McDonald. I'm hoping for production from both of those guys to take the pressure off of Vernon, Boldin & Crabtree. If Vance starts to play well, the offense can come out with 2 TEs and Vernon can shift to the slot pre-snap. Or they can come out with 2 TEs & 1 RB and Vance can shift to FB & they won't know if it's a running play or a pass (Vance is an excellent blocker).

And when Stevie & Vernon are both on the field together (1 RB sets), there will be so much attention to the pass I could see the RBs breaking some long runs as well. I'm much more optimistic about the offense this year than I was last year; my only real worry is at the CB position.

Veron is good, but he starting to bring back some old habits of me first and not the team.

Almost everyone is on board for the team...it's the team first..not Vernon

Are you serious? Even with him wanting a new contract he's clearly a team first player. How is he bringing back old habits? His only downfall was that he was too emotional and cocky on the field.

Have you listened to his interviews ?

He refuses to do OTAs for the better of his brand !!!!

He still runs lazy routes, he still runs the wrong routes, he still can't find an empty hole in the defense, he still gets alligator arms

Stuff that all can be worked on when you're with your team practicing

I think we'll see more 3 WR sets, with Vernon, and a single back. I also think that's a large reason we drafted Hyde. He basically ran the read option in college and was very successful without a FB. Replace Miller with Stevie Johnson and our offense drastically improves. The problem is finding comfort shying away from a power run game and committing to a more pass-oriented style.
