Not worried, he's still a team guy. Kap signing a team friendly deal to help them sign other players also should make him think twice. Maybe

I hope the same, Vernon is a crazy type of special player, if the 9ers this year can put him under the right environment, we can be extremely dangerous, extremely...I'm really hoping everything falls into place, we have the potential for something really special.

poor Vernon mistakenly sold his soul last year, and is forced to answer to investors now.

what??? no suicide attempts, workouts in his driveway, reality shows, daily media outbursts...

vernon just wants a 3rd big money deal. his rookie deal was big, his second deal was even bigger and he knows he is 30 and has this new fantex s**t or whatever it is. he knows if he played another year or the whole contract out that he wouldnt get as much money then as he would now. problem is i dont know if the niners will bite, they might not.

Hopefully he gets a deal done, him and Boone. We need both!!!

We dont NEED boone.

Martin will win the Center Job. Kilgore could play for Boone. Next season it will be Brandon Thomas.

And dont count Looney out.

So I guess you think plug-n-play at the Guard position is just that easy right?? But let's see if the 9ers agree with you.
Martin never played Center and he sucks by the way
Boone is a beast, guys like him dont come around often
Kilgore is way unproven

Martin did play C. He played G his first 2 years.

thats the thing, if he waits until his contract plays out, he'll get a new contract but not at his current average per year salary. he knows this and is trying to force the issue. at 31 or 32 we're just simply not giving him the contract he got at 27.

Yeah but he's more than welcome to go to VD's house and moon him or whatever it takes to get him acting right.

Knowing Sing it would probably be the other side.
I care about the team more than The Davis Brand so hopefully he will show up when he's required to. If not then he is asking for trouble when he knows this team is suppose to be about the TEAM. I will give him the benefit of the doubt though until he proves otherwise.

I remember when Big Walt would not attend s**t for the Hawks, but when full practice started he would be there. Vernon KNOWS the system and shouldn't show up for anything. For the fact that he is 30 and is getting old per NFL standards, he should sit out. He deserves TOP money for your team due to what he has produced, which I believe he is getting. So with all that, his age, top producer, I would not care if he didn't show up for ROOKIE orientation. Vets get hurt during OTAs are common. Hell I would limit his touches during full practice. As a rival, I haven't seen much of a decline in his performance, but I will admit I'm a Vernon fan.
qnn, it sure seems to me that the 9ers have dumped all over Vernon, first asking him to just be an OLineman, with very few passing plays, then we get crabs going and Vernon gets forgotten. (Put that one on roman). Then injuries and we look to Vernon again, but once crabs is healthy, Vernon gets forgotten. So it seems that the 9ers have crapped on Vernon early and often, and he is now responding in kind. I feel bad for the guy, because he has done everything asked of him. But when it comes time for passes to be thrown, we discard him or ignore him. That sucks and is one of the things I really dislike about roman...and JH to some extent. To have a talent like Vernon and not use him to the best of his abilities is a crying shame, and roman gets an F- for his non-use of Vernon in the passing game. OTOH, roman is just a run caller, not truly an OC...even tho that is his title. Somebody who is a true OC, and not just a run play caller, needs to be in charge if we are to get the best out of Vernon. I think Vernon realizes this (or has for sometime) and his dis-satisfaction with the way he has NOT been used has gotten to him...and I think that is a legit complaint.

Our problem is we still, 4 yrs in, have a run play OC, and not a true OC. Not utilizing Vernon as he should have been used is just one of the many failures of roman. The others are TNTC (too numerous too count). I think this is all on roman, and NOT on Vernon. I would be pizzed too if I were in Vernon's shoes.

Could this team survive without Vernon Davis?

Maybe we can trade him for multiple draft picks?

We played Seattle pretty dang well without him (figuartively of course)
I think if we traded him for some draft picks (I could see him going to the Pats) Baalke would make some crazy brilliant moves that would have most of us on here upset until we realized he is smarter than everyone.

Realistically, VD is staying and getting a small bonus.
