I know cc doesn't like Tom for some reason, but I agree with you. Garrison Hearst and Frank Gore swore by him that's good enough for me.

With Jed going to people like Parcells for "advice," we better keep all our connections to prior greatness while we still can.

I don't believe in guilt by association. It doesn't matter what steaming pile of crap Rathman has had to deal with ,from bad game plans, bad head coaches, blue light special running back corps... He has done freaking miracles with what he has had to work with, and when he has had good situations, our running backs have been awesome. He is the only one on staff I would be fine with keeping, and hope Kyle judges him purely on his merits.

What I'd like to see more from Huskerballs is not only coaching the backs to pick up blitzes, the blocking angles, or how to hang on to the footballs.. I'd like him to be also involve w/the scouting department..
have the balls to say that JAWS McDonald doesn't have the hands to go down field and make beautiful catches, but he is an awesome blocker who can be MORE effective leading the way for a young Leonard Fournette, and he's also a better pass catcher on simple routes..
This is the type RB coach I'd like him to be..

Do we need new water boys too? Ball boys? Ushers? I don't see a position coach as being part of the "problem." Now if Kyle wants to keep Rathman great. If he doesn't, that's fine too. But I see no need to burn everything to the ground just for the sake of starting fresh or that it's less of a fresh start if we retain Tom Rathman. Particularly when our backs have been consistently strong for the most part.

I am very close to slotting Rathman in the Paraage Rasputin category. Rathman just seems to lay low and be a part of every new regime that comes through here while not exactly producing the highest caliber of players. Yes, he "produced" Frank Gore...but I don't think that was much of a difficult task. Hyde is under performing and just about every RB we have had in the last 15 years other than Gore has under performed.
Rathman seems to have a position that is very difficult to judge because so much of RB success relies heavy on other variables and even more on talent.

Rathman Coaches RB's....go look at our rankings for the running game going back to 2009.....
Want more proof...look at our ranking during his first term from 97 - 2002.
He gets results is the point...and pretty good ones.
