I go with trade down as the #1 option no matter who is on the board (within reason) if we get great value in return. A couple extra picks in the 3rd/4th round + whoever we draft at the trade back spot >>>> whoever we would draft at #27.

Example - Cooper Jr there at #27

Trade back to #33 for #103, $179, and a 2027 5th.

#33. Max Iheanachor OT
#103. Kendrick Law WR / Jalon Kilgore S
#179. Dontay Corleone DT/Trey Zuhn III C/G/T
2027 5th allowing for a trade up from say #58 to grab an EDGE like Cassius Howell/Malachi Lawrence or a G like Pregnon.

>>>>>>

#27. Omar Cooper Jr.

And my favorite player I want us to get is Omar Cooper Jr. so no bias here as I'm advocating we pass on him if we can get extra 3rd/4th picks (plural) in a trade back to 30-40.

Idb rather have a bigger dart board than more darts..

Now, if you've got a ton of WR in the same tier as Cooper then sure, move down, grab the extra capital and draft the guy you would have taken at 27 anyway.

But trading down, taking iheanachor and Kendrick law sounds great now....until you get to 33, iheanachor is gone, you get to 103, law is gone, and you go into next season with your WR you had to force at pick 179 thinking god dammit this team really needs an Omar Cooper jr
If they could sign Cam Jordan, an edge rushing trio of Bosa, Jordan and Mesidor with Osa/Collins/West and hopefully someone like Landon Robinson up the middle would sure be something fun to see.

Generally teams are more eager to move into the very back of first round to get that 5th year option.

If Omar Cooper Jr or KC Concepcion is on the board at #27 I'd speculate there would be a team(s) in the 28-35 range that might be interested in trading up for him. Some other desirable players could fall as well like one of the CBs. McDonald is a fantastic player for a team needing a beast run-stopping NT.

We will see - my trade back scenario is not a huge trade up for the NYJ in terms of picks given up - an early 4th and 6th and a 2027 5th. Very realistic.

So you want Mesidor at #27?

I like the player but only if we traded back to early 30s due to his age. Trading back gives the luxury of a guy like Mesidor as we get additional picks as well to offset.

I'm more down for a trade up to #50 from #58 to get Cassius Howell or Malachi Lawrence at EDGE.

But I would be pumped to get Mesidor and just hope he wasn't a beast because he was lining up against 20 year old boys while he's a grown man.

If Iheanachor is gone at #33 no problem at all. That's the beauty of it.

At #33 with extra picks - we could draft Pregnon who is an elite starting LG and I'd be super ok with it. Pregnon will almost certainly be there at #33. And if he is gone you can grab Lawrence or Howell at EDGE. Concepcion could fall to #33. Blake Miller could still be there at OT at #33. Mesidor could still be there. McDonald could easily be there. One of the CBs could be there ... Brandon Cisse or Colton Hood and then we could trade Green for a late 3rd. McNeil Warren and AJ Haulcy will be there at S

Because we have so many needs I am good with any of the players listed above in a trade back scenario to 30-40.

Also, if Law is not there at #103 (I think he'll be there) can draft Bryce Lance, Brennan Thompson, or Malik Benson.

But again if we stayed put at #27 and picked Omar Cooper Jr I'm going to be STOKED with zero criticisms lol.

Heres my point. You're saying if these players on the board, a WR needy team or a run stopping NT starved team would love to move up.

Except, WE are the WR needy beast run-stopping NT starved team lol.

You don't like our NT options that are currently on the roster?

West/Evans
I really don't like this draft class

and I don't see too many teams trying to trade up into the last 1st

imo:
the best case scenario would be if one of the top guys like Downs or Bain or Lemon or Fano fall to the late teens/early 20s and we trade up for them
