I am now on the Caleb Banks bandwagon for the 27th pick. WOW after watching some videos on him and the Senior Bowl, this has to be our guy!!!! We can take Kamari Ramsey in the 2nd round!!!! Banks is exactly what they need on the D-line!!!!

Watching tape on pass rusher David Bailey from Texas Tech right now. Had a monster season. But....

Not impressed on my first watch. He got his a** handed to him by Utah. It didn't matter where he rushed from, he couldn't get any pressure against either of the top caliber Utah OTs. I wanna see you cause trouble for the best, not just beat up on bad competition.

So I watched him against ASU. He beat up on their weaker left side, but got pancaked when facing Max Iheanacor. So far, the guy looks like a great athlete that is vastly overrated. Potential is there, but I don't see a well rounded guy who is doing everything and putting up much of a fight against the better OTs. Not a 1st round talent to me right now.

I mocked him to us in the 2nd round back in April 2025. I dont think he showed enough on tape this year to be the top 5 pick some are speaking of him as. 1st rounder for sure, tho

Banks is a super intriguing prospect. No question with his size and athletic ability if he puts it together he can be Chris Jones level special.

We all would love that on the team. Having said that I would hope we let another team make that swing, ideally in the AFC.

He looked amazing at the senior bowl but Javon Kinlaw looked pretty great there too. We know how that went. Banks had a foot injury that while clearly not an issue since he was able to practice at the senior bowl still would worry me in a big way given our injury luck and foot injuries with big dudes…yikes.

Also while we don't have a pass rushing DT and need one bad, I believe our best chance to improve the DL is by adding another edge rusher. Mykel can move inside on pass downs. While it would be great to have Mykel inside with someone like Banks with Bosa and Huff or another speed rusher on the other side, I think it limits our options for majority of the time when we're not facing obvious passing situations.

I definitely wouldn't hate the pick cuz the potential is amazing but Javon Kinlaw definitely gives me PTSD.

I feel like the lack of pass rush hasn't come from the DE's. it's because the defense has no one upfront that can push the middle of the pocket. Besides CJ West, everyone seems to be hand fighting and getting nowhere, no push. 49ers defense needs someone that can push the pocket to get the QB on the move, disrupt his passing lanes. We can add all the DE's they can get but if the QB continues to step up it's useless.

2nd round grade from me, pending combine weigh-in.

Love him.

He's a pass rush machine that can win in a variety of ways. Exactly what they need across from Bosa.

Can we get him and Jacas? No idea where these players are slotted to go yet as just getting into the draft. But think these guys can be had later and we can use our top picks on other positions.

We sucked so bad getting to the QB want lots of depth and competition at EDGE.

Never seen so many spin moves in one highlight video lol

Well, the Raheem Morris could throw in a wrench in every evaluation we've made for the 49ers. I guess we need to find out more about what exactly Morris plans to do in his front, but I'd be surprised if they brought him in to force the current front onto him. I would hope they learned their lessons with Wilks.

Caleb Banks or Christen Miller look more likely at pick 27.

You can't say any pick looks likely without knowing what Morris plans to run.

I don't think the 49ers' defense will drastically change, tho. The Falcons ran the wide 9--just not as a base package. The big difference is they blitzed a lot more than the 49ers and used a lot of hybrid/5-man fronts. I think Morris is going to build on what the 49ers already do.

An example of how Morris could affect current player evaluation is Cashius Howell. I don't think he was a great fit in a base wide 9 team, but the Falcons used a lot of packages with 5-man fronts and a ton of 4-man fronts with their edges in 2-point stances--including in their wide 9 package. Cashius Howell suddenly becomes a great fit for that type of defense.

49ers and Raheem Morris have been known to draft a lot of D-lineman, I'm just going off of that. We'll see what happens.
Hope Morris realizes we need interior rush help too, not just edge.

Bingo!!!! Honestly don't care who it is!! If they can put pressure to the middle of the pocket I'll be impressed.

Couldn't that be Mykel? Get a new DE (perhaps in FA) and a speed rusher in the draft.

Can't we just let Mykel Williams focus on the outside and set the edge? I don't like Alfred Collins as a starter right now.
Caleb Banks at #27 may be a great pick. Let's get a stable of beasts at DT to go along with Collins and West and rotate them throughout the game and get another DT later as well. Then we can move on from Elliott and Davis and go youth with four DTs with large upside.

Tired of getting run on and no interior pass rush.
