I'll start by saying I have NO interest in Cashius Howell. Dude has 30" inch baby T-Rex arms. Length isn't everything, but your length can't be that poor. I feel like this may cause a drop for him.
I like Derrick Moore from Michigan. Another team captain and the size and athleticism to be a problem for offenses.

Here's my late day 2, early day 3 prospect. Malachi Lawrence from UCF. Experienced 5 year player and fits the Niners profile for edge rushers.

Watched this guy earlier today. I like him. Didn't seem super twitchy or explosive but won his reps.

I think the Combine might drop him. He has 30 3/8" arms. I don't think there's ever been a first round DE with arms as short as that. Even with the elite bend and quickness, he is not going to be able to stack and set the edge in the NFL with that lack of length. Not sure you can use a 1st on a one-dimensional guy, even if he can overcome that lack of length.

Howell has insane bend and athleticism that more than make up for any arm length issues. I am not sure he fits a wide 9 though, based on his size.

Howell to me is Bryce Huff 2.0 - may produce more in the right system but I'm not convinced he'd be an elite player in the NFL.

I'm a big fan of Gabe Jacas. Probably going to make a thread about him later. He's such a unique prospect and has only kept improving throughout his college career.

I'm with Hysterikal on this one. If that causes him to drop; we'd be kind of foolish to not scoop him up. Short arms didn't stop him from producing in college that's for sure.
We literally used the 11th overall pick on a one-dimensional guy last year (talking at edge). Length for days; can't rush for s**t. I take the guy that lacks in length but can rush the passer all day over that when we talking 1st round picks. Can get one-dimensional guys who set the edge on day 3

Well I only see Howell as someone who comes in on passing downs when Mykell moves inside. I'm also looking for a better pass rushing DT who's just 1 dimensional. We stopped the run last year. This year we need to get back to putting QBs on their ass

Max Llewellyn jumped up big-time on my board. He loves the spin move like TBC did.. but, he's got a complete pass rush repertoire. So many moves he can beat you with. Looks like Hendrickson 2.0
2nd round grade from me, pending combine weigh-in.

Love him.

He's a pass rush machine that can win in a variety of ways. Exactly what they need across from Bosa.

The difference is Howell has 16 SEC sacks in the last 2 years. He's a pass rushing specialist most likely in a 4 man front but I think both he and the drafting team would be aware of that.

The problem with guys like this is they're eventually going to have to play base downs due to injuries. It's unavoidable and happens every year. When these tiny ends have to play base downs in this front, they're forced to give max effort on every rep to overcome their size and strength shortcomings. The wide 9 is inherently demanding on the ends because of the wide splits. Compound that with being undersized, and those players end up wearing down as the season goes on. See Bryce Huff, who had no juice by the later half of the year.
I haven't watched Howell, but I'm not sure the 49ers can afford to draft a DPR in the first-round unless it's someone absolutely disgusting. That player is going to play base downs given how things always go for them with injuries.
