NFC teams are loading up on the running game in free agency. It looks like current defense trends are forcing offenses to shift back to heavy personnel/heavy running attack. The 49ers need to get serious about upgrading the run defense.

I mean, why not, the 49ers loss Kinlaw, Armstead and probably even Givens.

Kid I really like is Ruke Orhorhoro. He may not be the instant impact starter but I think he can definitely start and could develop into one of the premier DTs in the NFL.
There are more developed DTs who should be available but I'd love to get a kid who has a high ceiling and should take to Coach K well. One of those guys who hasn't played a ton of football so lots of room for growth.

I think as fans, we really have to take a second, more serious look at Sweat as a possibility. Will really need to vet this kids love and dedication for the game. I don't want a Zion Williamson situation on our hands.

I can see it in the first, but ideally a trade down (or up from 2) if it happens.

Im a fan of drafting him. I think a guy that big would open a lot up for the guys on the line and the LBs behind him. I have no knowledge of where he should be drafted or value or stuff like that. Lol

I agree. I don't know where he'll go, but I'm already open to Sweat. I think there's production left on the table due to the techniques he was asked use in the defensive scheme he was in at Texas. I posted about it on the previous page.
There was a wave of big RBs signing by a bunch of the top NFC teams during free agency, and it's likely due to how current defenses have been suffocating offenses the last few years with the trend of 2-high coverages. As a result, it seems that NFL offenses are responding by turning back the clock and going back to emphasizing the running game, big personnel and pounding the rock. The 49ers better get serious about stopping the run because that's going to be even more critical to getting back to the Superbowl next year.

I looked it up. His average mock draft position is like 47 with going 37 to Chargers the most mocked.
I am on board with taking him in the 1st.

I'll definitely check him out.
If Sweat is there when they're picking on day 2, I'd struggle not pulling the trigger if I were the 49ers. They've rebuilt the DL, and the only thing missing a base run-stopping nose tackle.
