Shocked!
Another physical traits guy failed project!

Exactly
One year of production and it wasn't even all of that good or consistent. 53.8% completion percentage and people went crazy over him. Didn't we just go through that with Trey Lance right here? And it surprises people? Now to be fair, Lance had much better production in that one year. But to be fair it was also a powerhouse program at the FCS level vs a mediocre (now) program in the SEC.
It's the exact same reason people fell for Caleb Williams and the Bears moved on from Justin Fields. Caleb is a hot mess. And to be fair the Bears are a hot mess. But you see it in his eyes, you see it in his body language, the attitude that concerned me and others with Caleb Williams is coming out. So time will tell but he probably will be a bust.
I recently saw this.

Anthony Richardson is 22. Benched. Bryce Young is 23. Benched. Trey Lance is 24. Benched. Justin Fields is 25. Benched. Will Levis is 25. Benched. Zach Wilson is 25. Benched. Mac Jones is 26. Benched. Kenny Pickett is 26. Benched. The NFL has a QB development problem.
Now to be fair, I would argue that maybe it's not the NFL's job to "develop" QB's. It's not like baseball or even the NBA or I think even the NHL. There's no minor league or developmental league for their prospects. I think a lot of it comes from if a kid is the best athlete/player in HS they play him at QB and in college they run gimmick offenses and don't line up under center a lot of times. There was a lack of development before they even reached the NFL.
BUT, if a QB has any major areas of concern/weaknesses often they don't get the support needed and coaching to succeed because they generally go to crap teams if they're high first round picks and are thrown into the fire immediately. The only one who basically wasn't in that group I think was Trey honestly. Levis maybe not as much and I think the Bears plan was to play Andy Dalton but that didn't work.
Having great physical traits allows a QB to overcome some things and get away with others. But playing quarterback has never changed. It's about recognizing, processing, making a quick decision, and delivering the ball to the right guy accurately. It's why Brock succeeded and "physical tools" guy Trey has not. And yet teams keep focusing on rawer guys or guys with major areas of concern when it comes to quarterbacking without having the support structure in place to keep them from imploding.
