Jake Haener (QB)- Fresno State

This is a little weird to say but I don't like his attitude. Lol reminds me of Zach Wilson. Almost like he feels entitled and all that. He has some talent and he seems super quick, but he's small. I'd rather get the guy from UCLA.

i wouldn't want my qb, if I was a player, to seem whiny and entitled.

I think it's more a chip on his shoulder because he is small and lacks true NFL arm talent.

IMO neither guys moves the needle much for different reasons.

Yeah, I usually have 0 hope for a late round QBs. Tbh, when we drafted Purdy I thought it was a waste of a pick. Lol late round QBs almost never work out and I'd rather take a positional player who can hopefully at least play special teams.

teams shouldn't bank on finding the next "Purdy". It's very rare late round QBs are even remotely functional.

There's something there. It's that intangible. Haener would be a Bill Walsh target. He also beat Boise State IN Boise for the Mountain West Championship last season. That's the gold standard for Fresno State grads and fans like me. He took a team that stumbled out to a 1-4 start and finished with nine straight wins. Pretty good comeback for a kid who was thoroughly trashed by Fresno State fans for entering the transfer portal at the end of the 2021 season. He went from "Haener the Traitor" to MVP status pretty quickly.

That said, if Haener is still around when the last round of the draft rolls around, I can see Shanahan taking a flyer on the kid.

My cousins daughter was dating one of the QBs at Fresno state. They posted pictures this year. I'm going to look at her Facebook real quick and see if it was him.

Biggest miss Fresno State ever made was when a head coach by the name of Tim DeIDIOT said NO to a Firebaugh HS product who DREAMED of playing for the Bulldogs.

Josh Allen turned out to be a pretty good QB, I'd say.

DeIDIOT should never be allowed to coach any football team again. Period.

I kind of agree - every article about him says he "bristles" at comparisons to Brock Purdy.

Bro, in your wildest dreams you do not have a rookie season as good as Brock's. It's a compliment. Relax.

Yeah, I prefer someone who's more humble. It's one thing to think you can be "X" and it's another to think you're already "X".

he just seems like a douche to me. Being compared to a rookie who defied all expectations and set records/won playoff games Is definitely a compliment. This guy needs to relax.

FSU grad...went to the first California Bowl! Every time we are driving south on 99 and see the turnoff to Firebaugh, my wife has to listen to me whine this same story...now, when we see Allen on TV, she says "Isn't that guy you always complain about Fresno State not getting?" Allen was such an easy get for the Bulldogs...damn, if they didn't want him to play QB, he seems like a dominant TE if you're a short-sighted coach!

I am of the belief that the 49er selection of Mr. Irrelevant in 2022 may have influenced the Haener selection. Had Brock Purdy not taken place last season, Haener might have sat around waiting for a phone call that would never come.
