I personally don't like the Mac Jones fit with Carolina. But obviously love his fit here.
I see this scenario playing out, except I can see Trey Lance being available at our pick and Kyle just not liking what he's seeing . He wants a polished passer and probably won't have the patience for a raw toolsy prospect

I think Slater is the guy and he will kick inside to RG for now. After seeing the Salary Cap getting up to 180 million minimum and maybe more, I can see them resigning Trent Williams and Verrett so corner won't be as big of a need. Then go for Alex Mack.

Basically with a revamped OL, it will buy Garappolo another year of excuses. Is that the right move? I don't know. But if it isn't, they'll essentially be kicking the QB problem down another year

That's strange, Joe Brady using spread concepts and Teddy's skillset look like a fit to me.

8 is just far too high for me, but 12 is too rich as well.

At 12? I wanna say Waddle. He can stretch the field and we can get oline help in the second.

Free 6 points on a punt return- every now and again- wouldnt bother me all that much either
I normally play it safe with a first round pick but waddle is tempting. Would make a lot of mismatches on our offense if we have a QB that can stay healthy or get them the ball.

We have excellent starting WRs, talented RBs, and an All Pro TE . What we dont have is a dependable OL that can be consistent pass protectors and give Jimmy G the time he needs to be successful. If Williams leaves we are screwed if we dont take an OT early. Slater makes way too much sense to pass on him if he is available. He either starts at LT if Williams leaves or at RG if Williams stays.
If Williams leaves I would feel the same. I'm assuming the Niners find a way to keep him. Sounds insane to let one of the best leave especially when you gave up draft capital to trade for him.

If Williams stays I feel the interior could be upgraded later.

And I think we either don't keep Trent William's or Jimmy Garoppolo, and Jimmy's the one we want to upgrade, so why lose so many long term players over a short term solution.

Trade up for a quarterback, or if we won't/can't, just take Jones.
I just didn't put QB on the list because I honestly believe that 3 Qb's are going in the top 4 pick's. Lance or Fields probably will be gone around 7 or 8. There's plenty of debate on the zone about trading tons of picks for a QB. If the Niners want to do that, that's fine with me but I knew if I put a QB or Kyle Pitts in the options, they would probably dominate the options.

I was just trying to see what the zone would do if all those options are off the table.

A lot of people will say trade back but you typically need a team wanting to come up and most of the time it's for a QB. The next QB is Mac Jones.

I like MAC but don't know if i'm sold on him at 12.

This is literally the scenario I see playing out which is why I did the poll.

What sucks is that if Jimmy doesn't stay healthy or improve... and we just kick the QB problem for another year... it just wastes the talent that you currently have and eventually can't afford. Bosa, Warner, Trent, Verrett, Aiyuk, deebo, etc...

They all get a year older and closer to bigger contracts. The following year you draft a QB and they are raw and have a ton of learning so probably no Superbowl there either. Now you've wasted 2 or 3 years and maybe by that time Shanny and Lynch are on the hot seat.

We need a QB that can run Shanny's system. I'm fine with Jimmy and think he can get it done. He's not elite like Mahomes but those Qb's are hard to find. My biggest frustration is Jimmy's health. If Lynch and Shannahan are wanting to run with Jimmy then they better have a real plan to get a legit backup QB.
Farley then slater

Pretty nice article on who they think are the cornerstone players in the draft.
If those were my only real choices, Slater or Ojulari. Both would be potentially high impact players as rookies. Slater could start at guard or tackle and has everything you need to excel in this blocking scheme. Ojulari is a great fit for a Wide 9 defense. He'd provided much needed speed off the edge across from Bosa. The combination of those two plus Kinlaw and Armstead would make life difficult for opposing OL's once more.
Slater. Don't see anyone else close in regards to speed rusher to compliment Bosa - which woulda been my top choice, but....

Slater it is.

It all depends on what we do in free agency and who we sign. I would probably take either slater or azeez ojulari or jaelan phillips. You build your team inside out and focus on the trenches. Defense line or offensive linemen.
I'm on Slater too. Not sure McGlinchy is getting that 5th year picked up. Slater plays inside for a season then takes over RT for as long as Trent is around. Or he stays inside. That's the versatility this guy brings.

It's fine to pick Slater if you've graded him out at the same level as the others. If you're just doing it because we need OL help that's not cool.

I have Farley graded clearly above, so you take the best player, he has clear shutdown potential for me.
With these options? Slater. I love Farley but I'd be really nervous drafting CB in the first round. So many top drafted corners bust IMO.
