If he didn't have a limited QB in those cases, he probably wins a lot more on a subpar roster.

how about we get a uber talent QB and throw him on a great roster that sounds like fun

It's funny because all these analysts basing their opinion from watching film whereas all these NFL teams have scouts who actually go the games and follow these players for multiple years for a full and thorough evaluation.

This is one of the issues with one year QB's. Especially this year when they haven't been allowed to go to practices (which can be a great place to obtain information) I'm surprised that's not being mentioned regarding Mac Jones.

Like Houston did with Watson last season? 4-12?

A great QB on a really bad team still means you have a really bad team and Shanahan has been part of some really bad teams.

If you have Matt Ryan as your quarterback and you're still picking top 5, your team sucks.

He led the NFL in completions, pass attempts, threw for over 4500 yds and MORE TDs than ALL 49er QBs last year and the 49ers still won more games. The idea that a great QB can elevate a bad team is a myth.

He only threw like 72 less passes than Fields. That's like what a game and a half?

Guess people that call it the most important position in all of sports are all just wrong then? Guess we traded 3 first round picks for just a guy who doesn't matter?

The potential for your team goes up exponentially the better your QB is.

If you're a 0-16 roster with a stud QB you'll probably end up looking like the Texans and being 4-12.

The Seahawks are an 8 or 9 win roster at best and Russell gets them into double digits.

We've got a very good roster with an even better coach, let's get the right QB and there's no stopping us.

It is the most important position in sports. That doesn't mean they elevate a bad team.

If Jameis Winston or Nick Mullens didn't turn the ball over their team wins more games. Doesn't mean they elevated anyone.

Fail to see how this means anything. What about a great QB on a good team? A bad QB on a great team? Why bother trying to get a great QB at all?

Makes sense. Half the GM's are fired every year. Those 4 are going to the playoffs.
