Kyle Trask-QB-Florida

I look at Herbert who is much better than he was at Oregon where they didn't really take advantage of his skills. Once he got in the NFL with a good coach, they fixed a couple of minor issues and let him play up to his skill level.

Who is the good coach for the Chargers? Just curious because I think that is one of the worst coached teams

Urban Meyer or one of the other good college coaches would be interesting. The chargers are kind of cheap so I doubt that happens.
Finally watched his game vs Alabama. Sheesh, I'm glad I'm not responsible for drafting. Dude was on fire.

Someone comp'd Trask to Rivers. Not necessarily stylistically, but their comparable strengths and weaknesses coming out. Two big dudes with relatively underwhelming arms that are surgical within the framework of an offense. Interdasting comp.

I'm sticking with my Nick foles comp

I think he's closer to Trubisky and Akilex Smith..
Trask will be dynamite if he gets to learn from Kyle Shanahan. 2nd rd selection is right where we need a QB anyway.

Task is pretty solid and think he can do well under Shanahan. Hes pretty capped at what he is unfortunately. He's not the qbotf which to me, isnt worth a 2nd pick when we can go CB/edge, IOL etc. Outside of the top 4 QBs I'm pretty disinterested tbh
It finally dawned on me after watching a bunch of Trask. I know who he reminds me of: Carson Wentz! Now, I don't think it's a 1:1 comparison, but it's pretty close. Wentz had a stronger arm, but Trask is a lot(a lot) more accurate. I also think Trask is cleaner with his mechanics and footwork. The body types, heights, and weights are identical. Both dudes are very difficult to bring down in the pocket.

Wentz looked like he was going to be a superstar after his rookie year and completely imploded after that, so I don't see this comp as a bad thing.

I've changed my stance a little about this offseason. If Kyle Shanahan doesn't think Fields, Wilson, or Lance is the guy he wants running his offense. I want us to trade down a few picks and pick either Trask or Jones. I don't think it's possible to trade back up with our second pick to land either of them.

I like that Trask can pick up short yardage with his feet unlike Jones. We can continue running QB sneaks like Jimmy has been doing successfully learning from Brady. Jones would be a lot more like Mullens in that area IMO.

Even after all of that... I still think I'm leaning Jones. But it changes day by day.

Kyle is such a stickler that I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't like any of the top guys.

I also go back and forth between Mac Jones and Kyle Trask. I think those 2 are realistic options. I'm sure there are other guys we're not considering that Shanny will covet. Need to dive deeper.

When was the last time the 49ers completed a go/fade for a TD? Trask drops these right in the bucket.

Wow I don't see that one at all. Only thing common is maybe size and freckles. Wentz has a good arm and is athletic, Trask is the opposite.

I searched Wentz Trask on Twitter to see if anyone else had that comp, and there were surprisingly tons of people already drawing that comparison. Someone called him a bargain bin Wentz.

I see he's a captain. 49ers LOVE players who were voted captain.
Wow, check out this throw from the endzone cam. Threaded the needle.
