As sure as Death and taxes he's going to Jacksonville, they have already given him the playbook to learn.

I feel like he just meant that he wouldn't literally cut off his own balls to win a super bowl. I don't know why he felt the need to put that in print, though.

Yeah, Lawrence is a stud - no way he doesn't go #1.

He is going no.1
I watched virtually all of his Clemson games. Not sure I saw much development of him as a player whilst at Clemson, but maybe he was just so good at the beginning? That being said, and bearing in mind he is going to Jax, it is entirely possible that in 2 or 3 years time, people will be saying that he was not the best qb in the 21 draft. Very, very low bust potential though.

He could walk away from it. He won't do everything to win a Super Bowl. He doesn't have a chip on his shoulder, and he doesn't want one. He would like to be the best QB ever, though. The problem is that the NFL is full of people with a psychological obsession about playing football. Those coming out of college that don't share that passion, tend to not succeed. Kwame Harris of the 49ers would be one example.
Now, Trevor is so good that even without giving 100% he might still have some success in the NFL. But he won't be great. In addition, the QB is a leader of the locker room. Do you want a leader that sets an example of not giving 100% to the rest of the team? In theory, Trevor will bring the rest of the team down, and result in a completely underperforming team.
From what I have heard Urban Meyer is all about football. He isn't going to like having a QB that is not all in, and for that reason he may right now be having second thoughts about Trevor Lawrence.
Bad news for 49er fans? I could easily see Urban Meyer settling on Justin Fields instead. I hope I am wrong.
P.S. The best thing that could happen to Trevor Lawrence would be to have an Aaron Rodger fall. That might give him the chip that he was missing.
So if the Jags Take Fields and Jets Take Wilson who would you draft?

I'd laugh at all that nonsense and run to the podium to pick him.

While I am concerned, I would draft him. 49ers have a more mature locker room which would be less influenced by him, and might get him more motivated. Also, imo there are only 3 QB worthy of drafting in the first round. Trey Lance is too raw (reminds me of Colin Kaepernick which went in the 2nd), and Mac Jones doesn't have the arm strength to be a first round QB.

Definitely a case where a guy solidified his position way early based on his performance as a freshman and he hasn't really done anything to relinquish it in the following years.

Lawrence has lost something like 4 games in his entire high school and college career. That doesn't sound like a guy that's not all in. Saying that you have other interests and football isn't your entire life doesn't mean he can't be great. Even if he only plays 10 or 12 seasons and then retires what difference does it make as long as he plays at a high level.
