Trading back from 13 to16 is likely to net us something like a low 3rd rounder. Depending on who we are targeting with #13, may not be worth it.

Fill the hole with Armstead and draft a true edge guy.

Armstead is not going to be nearly as good without Buckner by his side next season. Watch and see.

The defense can afford to give a little, weapons on offense are needed!

Yes. But I don't think we have the QB who can hit them anyway. So defense is our best bet.

Our d will still be top 5....our passing game needs way more help than the dl.

Thank you! Even great defenses get tired or bend a little. Team needs offense. No one that's a Niners fan thought the Chiefs we're out of that game for minute and it's because of that offense. Chiefs defense was good but it wasn't great just solid when they needed to be. Speed on Offense is needed!!!
Miracle Drops:

If any of these players drop to #13 by a miracle, these are no-brainer selections in order of value:

1. Edge Chase Young (Just can't pass up #1 edge rusher under any circumstances)

2. CB Okudah, Jeff (Would completely satisfy secondary needs for now and future)

3. OL Wirfs, Tristan (Perfect OL talent who can immediately start at OG then move to OT when Staley retires)

4. WR Jeudy, Jerry (second coming of a potentialy better version of Emanuel Sanders)

Think about the number of teams that have needs at positions we're already set at -- QB, OT to an extent, RB, LB, S. Then look at all the options at other positions and players that should be on our board and in play with a top 15 pick. Discussion starts now:

1. Henry Ruggs-WR-Alabama
Ruggs is a quick-twitch monster with huge hands and simply unfair physical advantages.

2. Jeffrey Okudah-CB-Ohio State
Consensus top CB in this class.

3. Yetur Gross-Matos-DE-Penn State
Widely considered the 2nd best DE in this class after Chase Young.

4. Jerry Jeudy-WR-Alabama
Arguably the top WR in this class.

5. Ceedee Lamb-WR-Oklahoma
Also arguably the top WR in this class, depending on who you ask.

6. Derrick Brown-DT-Auburn
Arguably the top IDL in this class.

7. Javon Kinlaw-DT-South Carolina
Also arguably the top IDL in this class.

8. CJ Henderson-CB-Florida
Considered the #2 CB in this class by many.

9. KLavon Chaisson-EDGE-LSU
LB/DE Edge hybrid player similar to Dee Ford, considered a close 2nd behind Isaiah Simmons.

10. Cesar Ruiz-OL-Michigan
Skyrocketing draft stock, considered the best IOL in this class.

So, I've just listed 10 players right there who could be in play. Now consider the plethora of others in this class who are talked up as Top 15 picks:

QBs: Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, Jordan Love
RBs: JK Dobbins, Deandre Swift, Jonathan Taylor
OTs: Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, Jedrick Willis Jr, Andrew Thomas
LBs: Kenneth Murray, Isaiah Simmons
DE: Chase Young

That's 14 other prospects who are considered by just about everyone and their mama as Top 10-20 picks in this class. Someone will fall. We just have to be sure we get the right guy.

You had el guapo at "plethora"

So true. Upgrading our passing game is priority number 1
The biggest question for me, is: What do we do if Kinlaw and Ruggs are both on the board at #13? Trade down and pick the one left over? Or take one and grab the other position at #31 with no trade. I think if there's 3 players we want at #13, we do trade down a little if we can.

Would we prefer Ruggs + Blacklock?

OR Kinlaw + Reagor?

Except for 5 RB's taken in the top 10 over the last 5 drafts.

I wouldn't get emotionally attached to a specific player (too late), as you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Easily A. Give Kyle some elite weapons. Heck, if we went Ruggs/Ruiz, they could use the remaining draft picks on defense for all I care.

Ruiz falling to 31 would be wishful thinking sadly, but if by some miracle he was there. A Ruggs + Ruiz combo and then all defense the rest of the way, say.. Murchison or Agim at DT with Robinson or Gipson at DE, I'd love that draft.

This. Agim, Gipson, and a nickel CB in the late rounds, with Ruggs and Ruiz to start. Can push outside CB to the first pick next year, hopefully Brunskill looks like the LT of the future but can use 2nd round pick on a OT of not. Then get someone like Lawson in FA ideally to replace Ford
If all three top WR are gone at 13, I think they have to consider a developmental OT that can play a year or two at OG. Especially with the depth at WR this year. They could set up the Oline short term/ long term and still upgrade the WR spot.

I wonder if part of the reason Kitrle wasn't catching more passes in in the SB was because he HAD to help block?

That's a really valid point, the right OT prospect could add a boost to the offense getting one of the best threats at TE back to the job of threatening the defense.

I don't think they got rid of one of the better DTs in the league tho, to draft an OT at 13 and play him out of position while he waits to start. But they might very well might have wanted the freedom an extra pick gives them to target a tackle or guard at 31.

I personally still hope they package 13 and 31 with picks next year to get Young, baring that I really hope for Ruggs or Jeudy. There is a at least one mock i saw (CBS sports) that was showing Jeudy's stock dropping, they had him in the 20s.

I like the idea of trading for YOUNG,... but if you have the 2nd overall pick, would 13 and 31 be enough ???
