I think that it would be wise to proceed as if that knee will never be okay. Get deep enough at edge then you can weather the storm if either Ford or Bosa are unavailable.

Stay put if there's value at the end of the round. This isn't a team where 6 or 7 rookies are going to make the 53.

Maybe not 6 or 7 but if you can hit on 4 or 5 by trading down and acquiring more picks in the 3rd, 4th and 5th, why not? When you are picking late first, the talent level in most drafts tend to be pretty flat through to the mid 2nd. If you don't have a specific need you can trade back a few times, snag a few more picks and still get a good quality prospect.

I think there are plenty spots where rookies could come in and compete. Just because a guy has a roster spot now doesn't mean that they should be entitled to it forever.

Is anyone going to argue that guys like Harris, Day, Zettel, Dontae Johnson, Witherspoon, Pettis, Celek/Dwelley and a few others should just automatically have their roster spots locked in? Some of these dudes are going to get bumped by either returning players, free agents or rookies.

By adding more picks you increase the odds that you hit on another Kittle or Greenlaw, bringing in a guy that doesn't just earn a roster spot but works his way into becoming a key contributor.

IMO unless it's a massive drop for a guy, I'm moving down at all costs. This draft is super deep.
They almost have to trade down. We don't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick this year. They basically have to turn that first into a few picks in the ensuing rounds.

Maybe. But I also think if a good edge rusher, DB or WR falls to them at the (for example) the 32nd spot, I think they pull the trigger.

E-man, Breida, Bourne, and Mullens proves that (at least on this team, and with these cosches) even undrafted, but talented players, have a legitimate shot at making the team.

Particularly a decent edge rusher.
After that collapse in the fourth quarter, this team needs more picks. Trade down is inevitable.
I'd trade down. Still think we need to shore up the secondary, get younger on the OL and maintain depth on the DL.

WR will depend a lot on Sanders and how we feel about guys like Taylor and Hurd being healthy.
I would love a edge rusher but seeing Kittle have to stay in on so many passing plays makes me think OL has to be priority 1 so we can utilize the best TE in the league.
