2020 Draft Needs

More picks. We can't address everything we want without picks. With only 5 picks and no 2nd, 3rd or 4th we would need to get lucky and hit on every pick to address our needs. That's not likely to happen when you are picking so late in every round.

1. WR - gotta groom and have another young receiver next to Deebo before Sanders' time is up.

2. Safety - No guarantees Ward re-signs with SF and they need more of a ballhawk back there with Tartt.

3. Edge - would be nice to add another DE to come in on situational downs. Hopefully more speed.

I would put Edge first. The difference between the team with Ford and without Ford was pronounced.

It's really too bad they didnt sign Suggs

They tried. The team we are facing in the super bowl had a higher claim

Trying to bring in maybe an elite player by trading down doesn't do it for me. You can't dance by yourself in the draft,...you have to have a partner.

If we're considered an elite roster next year,....then I see them benefiting more from trying to get at least 1 guy you can count on to come in and make an impact. Barring trades (that will not include mortgaging future drafts, btw),...the sad truth is these mid-rounds we love might haveta just be a wash as we spectate this year. Doesn't mean we wont be drooling over which kids we can sign as UFAs,...not to mention some vet FAs drooling over us.

But it's hard to be critical of the missing picks because we're in the Superbowl. But again,...trading back for more when you have little to trade to begin with is how teams full of holes conduct themselves.
Any change in fan perspective based on Combine so far?
Two positions that stand out as a need to me is CB and OL. With is Sherman getting older and Whitherspoon withering, 49ers would be wise to invest early in the draft at the CB position. The same can be said for the OL. With Richburgs injuries and Staley probably on his last year, both a OG/C and OL would be something I would focus on. I suppose either positions could be fill through FA as well. Not sure on the FA market this year and how it may correlate to cap space.

Why is it Joe's last yr? Dude is signed thru 2021. Unless his play magically disappears or he gets some crazy injury I expect him to finish out his contract.

After the spate of 49ers' transactions, here is where I would put draft team needs. I'm assuming Kittle and Juice are extended before they hit free agency next year.

A) WR, OT, CB. Sanders departs, Staley & Sherman in the twilight of their careers.
B) Slot CB, IDL, SS, IOL. K'Waun, Jones & Tartt are free agents next year. Add depth on offensive line.
C) DE, TE, SAM, RB. Add depth and special teams.
