Bosa Or Q?

To Bo's or Not to Bo's.....That is the Question

This is a tough one, but I think I have decided. I trust Willie McGinest's assessment. He doesn't rate Bosa highly at all, at least definitely not a top 3 defensive player. And on the contrary, he rates Q extremely highly and believes the 9ers should draft him.

But, the only thing I would say different is EDGE is the bigger need. So, if it was up to me, I would trade down to take a lesser EDGE such as Sweat, Ferrell, etc and Metcalf.

Since I started the thread and tried to confine the choices to 2 namely only Bosa or Q to simplify things, I will say this, in the event we don't or can't trade down, I will have to take Q.

You're totally entitled to your opinion, for me I've been looking at all these guys for like 7 months (or more), have watched them play, read and listen to f**k ton of draft related stuff along with take in some guys opinions that a value in here.

For me there's zero chance I'm changing my opinion based on willie McGinest's 2 min assessment of anyone. Good or bad. Too each there own

All i got going on.

Trade down for who?
Funny thing is...

I think neither of these guys is as good as what their biggest fans make them out to be. I think both will have successful careers but neither will make or break whatever team drafts them.

As it relates to the Niners...Everyone can see that the Niners are pretty good on the interior of their d-line between Buckner, Armstead, and ST.

And when you combine the Dee Ford acquisition with the abundance of quality edge rushers available in free agency(Houston, Quinn, Ansah, ect) and the draft(Allen, Burns, Sweat, Ferrell), it's not like it's Bosa or bust with the #2 pick.

Trade down.

I tend to think of this in terms of injuries. If Dee Ford gets injured (he has a history), we would be WORSE than even last year.
If DeFo gets injured, we have Solly and Armstead that could step in.

So While I think it is close for Q and Bosa in terms of skill at their position. The truth of the matter is that Q would be a pick at a position of depth and Bosa is a pick at a position without depth. Go with Bosa.

Y'all do realize that if Buckner goes down we are equally as screwed right? We don't have another 3T on the roster that has actually shown that they can rush the passer from that position. It's more wishful thinking and assumptions.

Playing the "what if" game is just silly anyway because this is football and a million things can happen to ruin your plans or turn a weakness into a strength. Just take the best player and hope everything else works itself out.

Edit: oh, and it's working on me too.

I've said all along that if Bosa is there, you have to take him, he's both your top need and BPA.

If Bosa is gone, then barring some MASSIVE RG3 level tradedown, I think you go with pure talent in Williams.

Bosa wouldn't be backing up anything.

We use two DE's 100% of the time

This is true too. If Buckner gets injured, nobody will be thinking "our best defensive player by far went down...its cool though guys, we have Solomon Thomas!"
Special Teams aside

Nah, I don't think so. We already seen what it's like without a pass rush from the outside. Sheldon Day, Arik Armstead, Julian Taylor and Solomon Thomas could all fill that role of Buckner and lets not forget Kentavious Street is coming back from injury too. They may not do it as good but no doubt I believe they will get the job done.

Ok now, who can fill that role for Ford and Bosa? David Mayo the Special Teams ace? Cassius Marsh, who just got the boot? OK, I'm back, my mind went blank so long I almost fell asleep.
If Buckner goes down (btw he never has) we still have Thomas, AA and Day.

If Ford goes down (banged up often) we have Ronald Blair and whatever Solly brings at edge. In other words we're f'd although they could draft someone later

It's not even close to what's the more concerning issue though.

49ers already went with a thin DE line up last season, what did that net the 49ers?
