One thing that's always bothered me about Nick is that he wasn't nearly as productive as his brother was in college. Yes, he missed 11 games last year, and that's a huge deal. But even going back to his soph year where he played in all 14 games, he only had more than 1 sack in a game once (1.5 sacks in the bowl game against SC). Meaning, he didn't have a multiple sack game his entire soph year until the last game of that year and has only had one 2-sack game in his entire college career (the opener last year against Oregon St.).

By comparison, Joey had two 2-sack games in his freshman year and 4 as a sophomore (including a stretch of 3 games in where he had at least 2 sacks).

Also, Nick only recorded 12 QB hurries for his entire college career, whereas Joey had 14 in his junior season alone (24 for his career).

All I'm saying is, the deeper you look into the numbers, the more concerned I become about assuming that Nick is Joey and Joey is Nick.

He only played 50% of snaps due to OSU's depth that year. Production wise he was killing it and was rated as good as anyone else just didn't get the playing time.

Bosa is definitely the pick if he is there. I see two scenarios that could play out:

1. Bosa is there at 2 and they take him. Then they package their 2nd round pick and maybe their 3rd to jump back into the 1st to grab a safety (Adderley makes sense). Then they use their later picks on WR, OL, and/or CB.

2. Bosa is gone so they trade back, grab Burns or Sweat, and be set up to grab that safety.

For sure if Bosa is gone the will do whatever they can to move down.

That's just what you want. They could, and should, draft QW at #2 if Bosa is not there unless they can get a HUGE haul for #2.

Not sure where you getting that 50% number, but this article contradicts your statement:

https://247sports.com/Article/How-not-always-starting-helped-fuel-Ohio-State-defensive-end-Nick-Bosa-119078184/

Nick Bosa picked Ohio State as a five-star recruit and the No. 1 defensive end in high-school football recruiting circles in the Class of 2015. At Ohio State, the Buckeyes forced Bosa to earn every opportunity regardless of background or his brother's superstar status in Columbus.

Bosa has been on the field for 27 games and the majority of defensive reps through two seasons, but he was not always a starter. Bosa got seven starts last season, and while frustrating at times, there was a method to the madness, he explains in a Q&A session with Athlon Sports.

"I hated not being out there for the first play of the game, but it is what it is and I got to play a lot of meaningful reps," Bosa said. "I played all the plays I needed to prove myself and to help my team. In the end, I knew what Coach J (Larry Johnson) was doing. He's always right. He's got a lot of knowledge, so you trust his decisions."
So it sounds like even though Nick didn't always get the starting nod every game, he was on the field A LOT his first few seasons.

That's just my prediction. I see QW as a redundant player on this team, so I think they would value a trade down more than him.

QW is just what YOU want.

Because he is clear BPA by a HUGE MARGIN if Bosa is gone. At least who I want is the more elite player. I'm fine with Bosa over QW. Redundant....well AA is GONE after this season. Thomas, if he does not improve, WILL BE GONE after this season or next. And then we will have a hole at DT and wonder why we didn't take QW when he is first team All-Pro.

Gotta look further out than just this year.

You would have a point if Thomas was a beast and ballin like Buckner...THEN I would agree on redundancy. Until then, we owe no loyalty to Thomas and QW is 10x the prospect ST ever was.

Again, I am the proponent of drafting one of the two elite talents in this draft since we are picking at #2 we should get one of them IF we stay at #2. If we trade down to #4 then by all mean draft Josh Allen there when Bosa/QW are off the board.

How is QW redundant ? What you don't realise is that he's a true nose tackle and would line up next to DeFo. Tampa bay pass rush was beast back in the day because of their defensive tackles, especially Warren Sap. 9ers were at their best with Bryant Young and Dana Stubblefield. DTs collapse the pockets making it east for DEs to get sacks when the QBs slide. Not to mention they stuff the run. 2 Dominant DTs like QW and Defo with Dee Ford on the edge is much better than taking an overrated, short arms, slow, non explosive, low production Bosa. QW is unblockable 1 on 1 and even beats double teams. Tackles in the NFL will expose Bosa.

Like they exposed his brother?
I love me some QW but would not take him over Bosa. You guys who would are crazy!

I want Shanalynch to take whoever they feel is and will be the more elite player. If that's Bosa, I want them to draft Bosa. If it's QW, I want them to draft QW. After getting Ford, I hope they draft whoever they think the best player will be.

Not everyone has Bosa as the best player in this draft, so it's not as crazy as you think. Brett Kollmann loves Bosa and still has Q as his best player. It's the upside of Williams that makes him so frightening because we are currently watching Aaron Donald destroy gameplans and Q is very similar.

The second we acquired Ford, taking BPA became a legit possibility.

How about you go watch the games vs just look at the stats cause that's what it seems like you're doing.

Dude wasn't a full time starter until this season and he got hurt. His film speaks for himself, whenever he played he produced. There's a reason every draft analyst view him as the top prospect for over a yr.

According to talking heads who cover the niners, the niners are high on Bosa and QW, not much has been said about Josh though. Take it with a grain of salt.

I've read the complete stats before but I'm not sure where. Anyways here's some proof that OSU rotated heavily.

What does his brother have to do with him ? They are 2 different human beings right ? Compare their production in college. Joey career high 13.5, Nick career high 8.5. Furthermore Joey is taller, arms longer, almost 20 lbs heavier. Nick has one of the shortest arms(33") from a DE like in the last 20 years and hardly get any tackles(77 total in 3 years). Solomon Thomas had 61 in ONE season. When tackles grab him he's done and he doesn't have Von Miller, Dee Ford etc type speed to get around consistently. He will get some sacks against garbage tackles because he has great technique but when he face good and elite tackles he will disappear.
