Dee Fords contract is proof to me that they will still be drafting an edge.

Pretty good critique imo. He seems to think Bosa will have a high floor but a lower ceiling than some of the elite rushers that have gone at the top of recent drafts. Would love to see him do a video on Josh Allen to hear his thoughts. I know he did one on QW and said he was the best DT prospect since Aaron Donald.

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that. It confirmed my initial gut on this guy. Sounds like a solid pick, but probably wont be breaking any NFL records. The slow outside speed and short arms really concern me. As the video pointed out, his arms are shorter than 91 percent of all past NFL OT prospects. That's a huge disadvantage.

Some folks have been saying this all along, slam dunk solid player, with some clear injury risk, but there is also a good chance he is nothing more than a solid player. As far as being the type of talent that steps on the field and completely changes the entire defensive unit, just can't see it. Many don't agree and that's ok, but outside of being more refined from a technical standpoint, I really believe the kind of impact bosa will have is on par with what can be found in later rounds.

While nothing is certain, it's probably reasonable to assume he'll be on par with his older brother. So I'd ask this question; knowing what we know, would you draft Joey Bosa 2nd overall? I'm not sure. I think the video nailed it. "Expect him to play well against certain less talented tackles, but he's likely to be over matched against strong longer armed ones that know how to use their hands." I know that's true of most edge rushers, but I'd like a guy who can win against elite talent with either power or speed. A guy like Trent Brown would eat Bosa's lunch.

Right. Draft Joey at #2 no thanks , joey is very good but not much different and maybe even less of a player than the Campbell's, flowers ...and a long long list of others that are drafted every year round 2 and later.

It's set up like most of our contracts we do now.

Mckinnon, Alexander, Ford, even Jimmy G's contract can be gotten out of easily as well now I believe.
It will be interesting to see what the Niners do.

At this point I'd take the sure thing and draft bosa.
I can't wait for the draft to take Bosa, then the season and watch Ford-Buckner-Thomas-Bosa go crazy, hopefully for many years !
why not bring another pass rusher instead and pick up a generational talent like QW? His video has shown that he can pretty much take on most types of OLs.
I've already given up on Thomas. There is no way that a top level talent takes more than 2 years to show anything. It was a horrible pick given some serious physical limitations and where his video basically showed him excelling against only certain types of talent with his short arm and height and lack of moves.

That would be great. But I dont think you'll get much out of Thomas and thus defeats the premise. Even Justin Houston would probably a better starting point and adding QW might get you what you're looking for.

I'm dying to see Thomas inside all year with actual pass rush on the outside, gotta see how he does at his natural position before giving up fully on the kid..
Joey
'16 - 12 games - 10.5 sacks
'17 - 16 - 12.5
'18 - 7 - 5.5

There's a lot of Nick/Joey comparisons out there and if Nick can put up these numbers or close to them...there's no question we should grab him at 2.
We missed out on Myles and his 20.5 sacks for a guy with FOUR.
I'm also not interested in another DT, IDC how good he is.
Get. me. Bosa.

If that combo works, keep that group together for a few years

One thing that's always bothered me about Nick is that he wasn't nearly as productive as his brother was in college. Yes, he missed 11 games last year, and that's a huge deal. But even going back to his soph year where he played in all 14 games, he only had more than 1 sack in a game once (1.5 sacks in the bowl game against SC). Meaning, he didn't have a multiple sack game his entire soph year until the last game of that year and has only had one 2-sack game in his entire college career (the opener last year against Oregon St.).

By comparison, Joey had two 2-sack games in his freshman year and 4 as a sophomore (including a stretch of 3 games in where he had at least 2 sacks).

Also, Nick only recorded 12 QB hurries for his entire college career, whereas Joey had 14 in his junior season alone (24 for his career).

All I'm saying is, the deeper you look into the numbers, the more concerned I become about assuming that Nick is Joey and Joey is Nick.
