Super happy for him. Kid is a great human being far mature beyond his age

This guy has a case of self-limiting athleticism which will ruin him if he does not recognize it.
Using his legs and trying to will big playmaking off it will just be a failure and cause more injury.
His chance for success will only happen if he copies drew Brees playmaking.
Pats beat writer Ben Volin thinks Pats could make a move to #3 for Tua. Would need to be creative to make trade happen but certainly possible.

Well the Lions at three are basically Patriots 2.0 so yes New England could certainly jump to three.
And IMHO if not for the hip, Tua was at least equal to Burrow in this draft.

Nah I doubt they do that. Really doubt it. 23 all the way up to 3 would definitely have to involve player/s and picks. Jake Luton from Oregon St. looks like a Belichick type QB. Late rounder Pro style QB with decent arm strength that moves around well in the pocket.

Supposedly, they're real high on Stidham.

Volin suggested Edelman to Detroit as part of the package. But did mention Hightower or Thuney as alternative possibilities being moved if not JE.

I think Gilmore is another actual possibility, as he is going to want/need an extension soon. He is like the 8th or 9th highest paid at his position and his deal runs thru 2021.

There were rumors the Pats had talked about moving up for Baker in 2018...and Bill needs a new FQB so I would not be shocked if he made a major play to go get one. And he is close to Saban, so he would definitely know all he wants to know about Tua. It also would allow him to get in front a QB needy division rival and potentially take their guy from under their noses.

Hey E,

With Tua's positive test, do you think he has a chance to go higher than he's currently projected?

By positive test, I mean his medicals came back clean, meaning he's close to 100% recovered from surgery.
Tua reminds me of a young Steve Young. The questions for me are how much of impact on his performance was having 3 top 15 WR on the team, and injuries.

Tua doesn't run as well as Steve did. Young was really fast when he was in college and in his early days in the NFL. He's an accurate passer with a good arm but 3 surgeries in his time at Bama would make me think really hard about using a high pick on him. He also had 2 of the top 3 receivers on his team so that has to be considered as well. Without the injuries he would be my top choice.

Tua doesn't run as well as Steve. If he hadn't had those 3 surgeries in college he would be my top choice at QB but those weren't minor injuries. He never played a full season at Bama so I would be a little cautious about drafting him high.
