Nah dude go look at his combine numbers, torn ACL and a ongoing hip injury was one of the main reasons he dropped ( and shorter arms)

40 YARD DASH: 4.67 SEC
BENCH PRESS: 35 REPS
VERTICAL JUMP: 33.0 INCH
BROAD JUMP: 114.0 INCH
3 CONE DRILL: 7.46 SEC
20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.19 SEC

Yea Lawson had ridiculous strength and quickness. His biggest knock were his short arms. Seeing those numbers again piss me off. If you don't like him in the second round, I guess I understand . But how do you pass a guy like that in the third and fourth ?! Had production, athleticism, faced top competition. Not the perfect prospect but had crazy value for the third and fourth.

35 reps on the bench. Lawson is a god damn tank.

Savage. That's even more than most DTs get

Dude is a powerhouse, but while those numbers are great for a DT, I guess teams didn't see the bendy athlete with long arms that they want in an edge rusher. None of that should matter if a guy can rush the passer though.

Yea definitely. But still, everyone knows that edge rushers come in different forms. Some are the freaky bendy guys, some are the quick finesse guys, some are the bullrush guys. Not every top edge rusher needs to bend like Myles Garrett.(although it's pretty f**kin awesome if they can)

All I'm saying with Lawson is that you can't blame it all on his injury history because a lot of guys with big medical red flags went ahead of him in the 2017 draft. Teams must've knocked him down their boards because he didn't have all the attributes most teams want in an edge rusher. Okoronkwo could be in that same boat and a lot of dumb teams will probably let him fall and allow someone to steal him just like Lawson was stolen last year.

Dude is was mainly because of his injury issues...go look at Barnett who went top 15, less of athlete then him and short arms as well.

His injury issues were a real thing and still could be down the road.

Garrett isn't the best example of a bendy edge rusher - he's more of a straight line explosive guy like Clowney but also has absurd strength. If Lawson is a tank at 35 reps on the bench with short arms, I'm not sure there's a word for Garrett who put up 33 reps with 35+" arms.

Most of the other edge rushers in this class are average at best, as a pure pass rusher I'd take OO over all not named Holland. What is two inches anyway?

I'm glad we've got a GM who wants football players, not prototypes.

I've argued hard against him at any point in Rd1, if the other teams are foolish enough to let him get to the 3rd I'd run to the podium as fast as I would for Barkley at #9.

I think there's a ton of edge guys in his draft.

Chubb
Davenport
Double O
Holland
Landry
Key
Duke
Hercules
Hubbard
Thomas
Sweat
Armstrong
Turay
Haynes

That's 14 good prospects in your estimation. The further we get in the draft process, we will likely see some small school prospects and workout warriors added to the list. I don't think this is huge pool to choose from. The Niners, if they stand pat, will have to grab one of these guys in the early third at the latest. My other hope is they find a way to get an earlier 2nd round pick to get their LEO of the future.

Those are names off the top of my head, without question there's more than that. That's a fine pool of edge rushers
Let this kid fall to us in the late 2nd and I'll be pumped to let him rip off the edge

It's crazy cause his draft stock is all over the place CBS has him as the 12th overall prospect, Lance Zierlein has him as a 3rd-4th, Matt Miller has him outside his top 150.

The height/weight is polarizing. Some people are insistent that their edge players be a certain height and weight

Obo is short but long. I wish he had a little more mass on him. It would be nice if he was in that 250-260 range.
we need to come away with him or Landry.

Honestly I hope he shows up at like 242 and it pushes him down the board
