Aldon also had elite length(35 3/8"); Davenport has good length(33 5/8").
Is that rush in the Senior Bowl supposed to impress us?Davenport lands his hands on Brian O'Neill's facemask, which happens to be over his toes from reaching with that pathetically passive "punch."
That play was more of an indictment of O'Neill than a nod to Davenport. Ugh, if the 49ers draft O'Neill, I hope he doesn't see the field until next year.
I wonder what that wedding night looked like? Rex Ryan wants pictures.

Even if physcially. I feel like these old timers like Polian and Casserly are just pissing into the wind, not really bothering to watch these guys play just going off of whatever the current media hype is.

I don't get it lol. I kind of brought it up earlier in this thread. People have been acting like Davenport is another Myles Garrett type physical freak...he's tall, he's big and yes he's athletic but Solomon Thomas is arguably more athletic than Davenport.
It's like people heard he's a big athlete with huge size and everyone just keeps hyping him up more and more and with each passing hype job he gets faster, stronger and gets longer arms lol.

I believe UTSA defensive end Marcus Davenport will go somewhere between picks 10 and 16, and has the potential to make that look way too low. One college scouting director who's been studying him for a couple years told me Davenport played at 240 pounds in 2016, and 265 pounds in '17, while adding "he's still coming" weight-wise. Some believe he has a higher ceiling than Bradley Chubb.

So spare me the upside crap. Dude is a project much like AA was...imo you don't spend top 10 picks on players like that.

AA was drafted for a 34.
The end.

Some people are talking out of their ass...look no further than the few posts above yours.
Davenport is a promising prospect and I wouldn't HATE the pick if he was the guy because his potential is impressive but the guy is getting completely overhyped to the point where people are playing like the NFL draft version of telephone with him.
"Marcus Davenport is an athletic freak"
"Marcus Davenport is as strong as an ox"
"Marcus Davenport can leap building in a single jump"
"Marcus Davenport's arms can touch the sun"
"Marcus Davenport is the love child of Justin Smith, Von Miller and JJ Watt"
Obviously I'm being extreme but the fact that people like Bill Polian are out there talking about him and clearly wrong...like he's got longer arms than Ansah. I've heard people say he's more explosive than Landry and chit like that.
He's a talented kid and he's got great size but he's raw and has a lot of work to do and raw players don't always mature into studs. He's tall and he's got long arms but his arms aren't even THAT tall compared to his height. He's got like an extra 6/8s of an inch on his arms while having nearly 4 inches more in height than Landry.
I swear people are talking about him like he's 6'6 270 lbs with 37 inch arms. And considering how high he plays his height is not a great thing.
It's actually is pretty similar to how Armstead was talked about. Different position but similar evaluations - raw player with potential to be an all pro. How's that working out so far for us?
Doesn't mean Davenport will be the same type of disappointment as part of Armstead's issues have been injuries but taking a guy like that at #9 is a risk.
JPP is a similar player and what you're hoping for when you take Davenport, he was taken at 15. That's probably a similar spot for a guy like Marcus. Teams picking there aren't awful and can take the risk because the reward becomes worth the risk.
