That's one hell of a game by Davenport vs north Texas. I'm willing to bet he can be coached up into an absolute terror in the NFL. Nice little QB for North Texas too. Accurate and balls of steel.

I've seen conflicting info about his height. He seems to be listed anywhere from 6'5" to 6'7". Personally, I like shorter(6'3" and shorter) edge rushers with natural leverage.
I think he'll come in around 6'5". While the leverage concern is valid, I do like that his height and length could be a useful asset to clog up passing lanes.

I'm sure he'll do well at the Senior Bowl, but I don't see the necessary speed for a LEO or SAM. He feels more like Armstead at LEO than a Avril type of guy. I feel like we need a true speed rusher. We saw Dumervil have some success with it.
On the other hand, Salah is using Harold as the SAM, so maybe he envisions sacks coming from a LB rather than prodominately from his LEO. I doubt it though. Either way, I think he'd prefer more speed and bend at the position.
That's just my gut feeling on Davenport in our defense. There's a certain level of intrigue with him though because he's so raw. If he gets anywhere close to his presumed ceiling he'll be a stud and it won't matter what scheme he's in.
Ill hold off on jumping on the bandwagon, but I'll be watching closely. Should be fun to see him match up with the top OTs. His length and power will present problems.

Yeah, that QB had some nice poise and hung in there.

He definitely can move, we'll see just how fast but I'm not concerned about that looking at him, the video has him making tackles in space and chasing down QB's

I didn't see the same quickness that I'd like to see out of the perfect Leo but I also don't see Armstead. You could say he's closer to Aldon who wasn't the most graceful DE but he knew how to use those long arms of his to get after QBs.
The only thing is now that we have Jimmy and look like a team that can win games even with the current talent I don't think we're in position to draft guys who are major projects so the senior bowl practices for Davenport will be huge. If he shows he can play vs the guys at the game then he may be worth the first round pick. But if he has his struggles then I don't think he's worth the gamble. He may end up being a stud 3 years from now but we need someone who can rush the passer from day 1 and get our front 7 to that next level.

Straight line speed, he's fine. He looks somewhere in the 4.75 range, which is good for a 6'5" 255lber. Quickness and change of direction are what really concern me a little.
He's not going to be able to plow right through NFL OTs. He'll need to beat guys with his speed also. That's what I'm eager to see at the Senior Bowl. If he can do that, than there's nothing keeping him out of the top-10 expect the interviews. He's the prototype on paper.

Not seeing any resemblance to Aldon. He had freaky quick moves for someone with his length.
He way Davenport moves people is somewhat similar, just not the quickness.
I'm not trying to knock the guy. I'm truly intrigued. I just have reservations until I see him with the big boys. I have no doubt that he'll plow right through a few guys and make it look easy.

This the first I've heard of him. The clips are awsome. Where is projected to go?

I see a guy that is a heck of a lot faster than Armstead. You have to remember that he was brought in to be a receiver. I would expect him to run a 40 in the 4.6 to 4.7 range.
My biggest concern is his instincts. He looks like he is guessing a lot but when he guesses right, he pretty much always blows up the play. While he is pretty raw it is good to see that as others have mentioned, he does have a nice collection of pass rush moves.

Most were expecting late 2nd to early 3rd because he plays for a small school, but now he's getting hyped all the way into top 15

I was expecting 2nd to 3rd round but he's been hyped as a mid 1st rounder and if he shows out at the Senior Bowl and tests well at the Combine he could go even earlier than that.

If this guy at least holds his own at the senior bowl and tests well at the combine I can see it going Key, Davenport, Landry, then Chubb. Teams always seem to identify the solid player then get caught up in potential/hype in the other guys causing the solid player to fall a little bit.

I'm pretty much going to guarantee that Chubb is the highest drafted pass rusher
