The league has experienced a paradigm shift in the LB archetype since those guys were drafted. Bobby Wagner and Deion Jones slipped to the second because they were "undersized." I don't think that happens today. Hell, 49ers used a first on Reuben, who is considered undersized by antiquated standards.

But I agree with you, NY. This class especially has some good LB prospects, so I'd have no issues looking later.

No I agree, Smith is my top guy at LB without question. He's my pick in my last mock, which already needs to get changed cause harris is staying another yr (horrible move imo).

I've been watching more of tremaine edmunds, man I'm liking him more and more. He's not as polished as smith, but could be had a little later. Where you see him playing in our scheme? I feel like I could see him playing WIll/SAM could be moved around a lot.

He could play either, but I'd put him at Will LB. Let the dude use his freaky athleticism to chase down ball carriers from sideline to sideline.

The SAM is a little overblown on this forum. It's such a small role in this defense and is barely on the field. Set the edge and guard the flat. Saleh rarely sends him after the QB. Like Thl said in the main forum, there are 10 other positions on the field that I'd rather have a player maker at than the SAM.

If he's there when we pick, that would be great... if Nelson is there too, then what

Nice, Foster and Edmonds could be something special. We could move down grab some extra picks and get rolling!

Imo I feel like the talent level at where we're picking vs in the late 1st and 2nd rd isn't that big of a difference.

If smith or Nelson are gone I'd love to turn that into Guice and Edmonds (trade down into 1st, then move up into top of 2nd for Edmonds) then snag Braden smith with our original 2nd.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of paying for Ziggy in FA as well. Front load it and move on from it later down he road.

That's why if Smith is available you have to draft him. He takes this type of defense to another level. We need to win that coin flip with Oakland in the worse way.

Exactly. Ridiculous speed. I think there's a lot we could model after the Jags. Buckner at DE (see Campbell), Thomas at DT (see Malik Jackson). We are still short at RDE, but we have some players that are there. Add Smith and we are halfway to a top defense.
Since there is no Ramsey in this draft - yeah I want Smith

Deadline to declare is tomorrow. It doesn't look good for Roquan fans.

All of the underclassmen already declaring is simply pushing him down the draft boards right now...might be a smart move with regards to $$.

This will take some of the suspense out of the draft if he doesn't declare
