I would take the bpa if garret is gone. We have so many holes taking a day one starter is a good thing. I personally prefer we rebuild the defense. Hell, I wouldn't mind loading up on defense this draft, but we have no idea who the GM or coach will be so - blah!

We are so bad I expect another top ten pick next year so just gotta draft really well and get these kids on the field - go after a qb next year.
That is what people said about Carson Wentz around this same time last year. Don't be shocked when both Trubisky and Kizer wind up going in the top 10.

Exactly. Too many QB needy teams in the top 10 makes their draft value up. I think 2 QBs will go top 10.
If Garrett goes first I really good we get a trade offer like the Browns got for #2 last year. Doubtful though.

Trubisky if not.

I suspect as much but are they that good or just supply and demand? Lol

bowman, tarrt, hyde, staley, beadles, ward, garnett, armstead, lynch, tiller, brown, kerley, defo, dorsey, vance, RAY RAY, are the only keepers so far imo. we need 6 maybe 7 more starters.

QB ?
RB Hyde
LT Staley
LG Tiller Beadles
C ?
RG Garnett
RT Brown
WR ? Kerley
WR ???
TE Vance

NT Dorsey
DE BUCKNER
DE ARMSTEAD
OLB LYNCH
OLB ?
MLB Bowman
MLB Ray Ray maybe a beast maybe a back up
CB Ward
CB ?
Safety Tarrt
Safety ?
Nickel ?

Important roles to fill
NO really good pass rushers
1 Open safety spot
1 Open corner
No QB
No Center
No #1 receiver
No #2 receiver

In no order thats where we have to get better.
Obviously it would be nice to pick up veteran back ups and a starter or 3

We need to draft BPA of these needs in the first

I also Heard Ronnie today saying you pick guys in the first who you think will wear that gold jacket.

1. QB
2. Safety
3. Corner
4. Pass Rush OLB
5 WR

In no order again

That Leaves us

Tabor
Williams both
Garrett
Peppers
Jamal Adams
Watson
Trubs

IMO the best players here are

Garret - who is gone according to post

Peppers
Tabor
WIlliams WR

I pick 1 of those 3
I'm really torn about Trubisky and Watson, but I like the potential of both guys. I think they both could be good in the NFL, so I guess I would rather take the guy who has done nothing but win since his time in CFB. I think I go Watson w #2, and my dream scenario would be landing Mike Williams by trading back into the first.
Trubisky or Allen (if we run the 4-3)
Im not for drafting a QB at number 2 just because we are desperate for 1 when none are really considered even top 10 worthy. If were staying at 2 pick with this team having so many holes just draft BPA at a position we need.
I'd be pretty pissed if we drafted Peppers in the top 10 let alone #2.

You are showing 12 people on D and forgetting Robinson who is starting CB material and Redmond (we'll see what he can do) who we drafted to be a slot corner. If not Ward slides to nickel and CB opens up. Moving Reid to SS may be the best move and FS opens up unless Tartt starts playing better consistently. We'll need to add someone in FA here and drop Bethea.

Also, Torrey is dysfunctional apparently without a #1 but becomes a solid #2 if we get a #1 so we would kill two birds with one stone IMO.

That being said, QB, OLB, and WR are the 3 biggest needs we have. Getting Jimmy G and drafting Garrett is ideal but realistically I see us signing Foles (when he gets released) and adding Watson or Tribusky in the draft at QB. I think we'll go pretty hard after Jeffery to fill our #1 spot, we'll resign Kerley for cheap and probably draft at least 2 WR's. OLB is still an issue if we don't get Garrett but we can draft one early or there's some quality there in FA.

Either way we'll have to hit on all 3 spots and your other holes are about right. ILB is another top priority with Bowman and Ray Ray coming off IR.

Nobody's been a bigger fan of Allen's than I since last year, but taking him over Trubisky would be ret***ed.

lol no. Trubisky is a FAR inferior prospect than Allen.

Allen is a safer prospect. But he's not JJ Watt. He's not a guy like Garrett or Von Miller or Julius Peppers or Patrick Peterson who can single-handedly turn a defense around.

Trubisky, on the other hand, could be the guy to solve the biggest problem the Niners have had since 1999 (s**tty QB play). If there's a potential, franchise QB on the board, a guy would have to be a once-every-five-to-ten-years kind of prospect to pass on him.

This team needs impact players, not just some guys to fill in the gaps, hence, trading back makes no sense to me.

The most impactful position is QB and just because some folks are saying none of these guys are worth the #2 pick doesn't mean that Trubisky or Watson wouldn't be good picks at 5-8. So if they can become a good player at #8, for example, why not pick them at #2?

Often people over-think the draft. If you see a guy that looks like he will fill your most important need, and you have to reach 4-8 spots to get him, do it. I agree with what others have said that there will be 4 or 5 QBs taken in the top 15 or so. They may not be the second coming of Tom Brady but if they turned out to be Matt Ryan or Matthew Stafford, would you complain? I wouldn't.

Allen doesn't work for me because I am assuming Armstead comes back healthy and Buckner has developed very well. Fill the NT slot with a FA.

Trade back into the 1st round if you see a WR that you like. (not likely to attract a decent Z in FA until a proven passer is here) Will have to fill WR in the draft.

Your logic makes no sense. We may have no quarterback next year and you want to draft defense?

Edit - Also for clarification, we've gone defense with our 1st round pick for the past four years. (Buckner, Armstead, Ward, Reid) How's that panned out for us? I get it, if Myles Garrett is available we take him but he probably won't be so defense makes no sense to me. Our offense sucks outside of Carlos Hyde and some offensive linemen.

Why would we draft a CB or WR when we don't have a Quarterback? Your assessment was really, really good until you got to the end.
