Trade back pick up Lawson and an extra 1st or 2nd and that would be great. I think Lawson winds up being the best pass rusher in the draft.

I don't think he's going to fall that far beyond 7. If we traded back a few spots and were still able to get him, there is no chance we would receive a 1st or 2nd round pick.

This. Every year people convince themselves of these fantastic scenarios because they saw a guy lower on some random internet draft board. I think Lawson could easily go 9 or 10 so you arent going to be able to trade diwn very far and still take him.

Would not be shocked at all if he was the pick @ 7. Fits Baalke's MO of pissing everyone here off by 'reaching'for his first rounder. I almost expect it actually.

not everyone
would be a very good pick imo. maybe not best value, but in no way a bad pick. as phoenix and others mentioned, this is not a computer game were you can save and try again. trade back and pick him up around 15 might just not work.

I don't think it would be a huge reach though...it all depends on who's on the board at 7 for me.

Speak for yourself. I dont see Lawson as a reach at #7 and I wouldnt be pissed off.
You get a high character young passrusher that plays with a nonstop motor, that could be a strong team leader and is capable of immediately playing all three downs...I wouldnt be upset at all.
Lawson is a guy that I could see Bowman loving to work with especially.

I don't really see it as a reach either. Was more of a comment in
regard to how it will be seen by most of NN. hence the ' ' ....

No matter who the 49ers pick I think some portion of fans will be pissed off pretty much. Its the same thing every year.

I see this being the pick. His numbers are amazing, over 12 sacks and 25 tackles for loss this year. A tackle for loss is about as good as a sack and would look good on our Def. Reminds me of a Terrell Suggs, big body guy who can stand up to the NFL. He played in big time games and put up big numbers.

Man wonder if he knew about it the whole process or if it's something the bills discovered doing a real thorough physical

It was reported by adam schefter leading up to the draft that he heard Shaq Lawson would need surgery on his shoulder.
Shaq lawson came out and denied the reports and said he didn't know where those rumors came from.
Looks like the rumors were true
