Matt Miller Verified account @nfldraftscout Shaq Lawson to the Bears is heating up. They've done a ton of work on the Clemson edge rusher.

Watch Baalke trade up to #5 and draft Lawson

Lawson, playing on an injured MCL, had two sacks and four tackles. He didn't practice all week and was receiving extra treatment right up until game time. I tell him that if I were in his position, with my first-round draft status on the line, in all honesty I might not go out there on a bum knee – not in a game I'm playing for free.
"That wasn't even a question at all," Lawson says. "I wasn't even thinking about it. I was just thinking about going to win the National Championship. So, even if I only had one leg, I was going to go out there and play."

I wish the 49ers could snag both Lawson and Conklin in the first. Might not be the absolute best at their position but are both tough, hard working guys with outstanding character and they truly do seem to love the game and can be counted on to give you 100% of what they have whenever they are out on the field.

I think both might end up going in the first 15 picks. Id be fine with Lawson at 7 or Conklin in a slight trade down. They would bob be able to start right away. Baalke really needs to nail this draft and landing either one would be a step in the right direction

I could see the 49ers trading down a bit and taking Lawson. He could be a great 3-4 OLB. It would allow us to cut Brooks and save all that money and sign a good free....nevermind.
But this guy is a physical stud. His spin move is tested to be as fast as Ezekiel Elliot's.
He's a very powerful 3-4 OLB and reminds me a bit of a more athletic Aldon Smith.

I'm starting to think Lawson is going to be our selection at #7.

Would have no problem with this at all. He's the guy I think we will regret passing on if we go OT. Even if we get a great OT, Lawson is going to be a stud.

If Buckner is gone I would be happy with this pick

My kind of guy. I used to tape them. It made for great comedy to watch them a few years later.

Don't get the Aldon Smith comparison at all. Smith was successful because of his arm length. Lawson has short arms for a pass rusher (<33"). He's successful because of his motor and may be better as a run stuffer than a pass rusher in the pros. 7 seems high for him, but I wouldn't hate if we drafted him or Conklin after a trade back. We're guaranteed at least one of Ramsey, Tunsil, Buckner, Bosa, and Stanley.

I'd love to trade back with Titans and get an additonal 2
