Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida

Why would you draft a CB when we have a TON of young players at the position? Baalke doesn't value CB and would rather have a stud pass rush which is what is needed more.

cause all these young players are nothing but potential right now. if this group continues to improve this year i think pass rush may become more needed but at this point we need a CB that can cover anyone/everyone. we dont have that i think going forward with brock as our best CB is just asking for trouble.

That's all Veron would be coming into the league...potential. Look at how many busts there are every year at CB in the 1st.

I wouldn't mind bringing in some more vet presence, but I like the young squad got to give them more reps.

Also we've never had a lock down CB the past four years and were always top 10 in pass D, pass rush is far and away more important and Baalke has shown that's what he values more.

Well we've never really been in the position to draft a potential lock down corner so we're not really sure how Baalke could approach this draft now. I think this could be a huge option for us if we don't draft a QB or go O-Line
We've got some options, but I think given our pitiful pass rush, that has to be a bigger priority. I think we could always upgrade at CB, but given the other areas of weakness, I just can't see us making this pick.

sure we have...there are solid DBs in every draft doesn't have to be the first one. Go look back at the past drafts and all the 1st round busts at CB. We are far from ONE CB from being good. I still like the youth at CB they are only gonna get better.

I'd rather go to FA to grab a solid vet, I don't need to see our 1st rd pick get wasted on secondary. give me a QB, OT, or some sort of pass rusher (interior is fine too).

Baalke has shown in 4+ years he just doesn't value CBs and would rather focus on pass rusher on the front seven and I agree.

Small trade up of I think it was 5 spots would have got us Jason Verrett. So a first and third or something along those lines.

I agree you can get good CBs later in the draft but good pass rushers are harder to find and should be valued over corners. A great pass rusher falls every year that a team is lucky enough to draft like a Aaron Lynch. But every year there are Corners who get drafted in the first who are busts (Lookin at you Justin Gilbert) and later round Corners play like rock stars. Far less misses on Pass Rushers but they do happen (Jadeveon Clowney)
i am not a big fan of using 1st round draft picks on CBs. They usually bust. he underrated 2nd and 3rd round CBs are the ones who seem to have the best value

exactly! I would rather have pass rush over a CB for sure.
Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves indicated that the two teams that showed him the most interest during Tuesday's Pro Day were the Dolphins and 49ers.

After Pro Day proceedings were over and done with, Hargreaves said, "It was smooth. It was good. It was fun to be back out there with the boys." The 5-foot-10, 207-pounder indicated that he's planning on losing a few pounds off that Pro Day measurement to reach his ideal weight. He also boasted that he's the best corner prospect in the draft, saying, "Without a doubt. Without a doubt, every time. I'm always going to pick me." NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt believes that his strong work in positional drills on Tuesday might have locked him in as a top-10 selection.

Wow no one has been talking about him sense November when he clearly should be on radar as the top CB in this yrs draft. Makes me think he's the pick

Not a huge fan of drafting a CB that early, but Hargreaves is a stud. We have some good young CBs on the teams, but they're nowhere near the talent Vernon is. He's in a different league.

While a pass rusher should be the priority, the value may not be there at #7. After Buckner, Jack, Wentz, and Bosa, Hargreaves may be the best player remaining for us. There's likely going to be an OLB in the 2nd waiting around. If not, there will be a DE and Dadi Nicolas later. I wouldn't rule out a corner.

Hargreaves has the talent to be a top 10 CB early in his career and he's got a great head on his shoulders. His receiving drills (gauntlet) was better than most of the WRs. He's a safe pick and big upgrade at a position our new DC covets.

Why not? Is it cause its not a major need? He doesn't have the eye poping intangibles? From what I can tell he can change direction has good hands and strips at the ball while making a tackle
I have faith in Baalke on CBs, he has gotten sone solid ones in later rounds. So if he likes one in the 1st that speaks volumes to me.
