If I drafted Bruce Smith and he's already showing to be the dominant end and the next year Reggie White pops up you can justify passing on him esp in the salary cap era. Deforrest allows us to pass on Thomas especially because I think they're both best at big end, nickel DT. I'd feel great walking out with our future nose and Leo in this draft. That extra beef will go along ways to help the run d too
I can see your point. I'm not giving up on Armstead, but the reality is that he is a project. However if the Niners don't take Thomas, I prefer a trade down, and although it may take a lot of moving around, try to snag Davis and McCaffrey. I still want Lawson and Bowser or Willis however.
