San Francisco 49ers

17. Oregon DE Arik Armstead
46. Samford S Jaquiski Tartt
79. Virginia OLB Eli Harold
117. Oklahoma TE Blake Bell
126. South Carolina RB Mike Davis
132. Georgia Tech WR DeAndre Smelter
165. Clemson P Bradley Pinion
190. Boston College OG Ian Silberman
244. Florida OG Trent Brown
254. South Carolina TE Rory Anderson

Overview: The 49ers drew day-one praise for trading down with the Chargers and still securing "their guy" in Armstead. I view Armstead as a classic boom-or-bust prospect, however, and unworthy of a top-20 pick. For someone as physically gifted as he is, Armstead had an alarming shortage of college production. Tartt will be a special teamer this season. I don't think Bell has the tools to become more than a little-used, role-playing tight end in the pros. Davis is a straight-linish grinder. Smelter will redshirt in year one. Pinion is a punter. Silberman, Brown, and Anderson are throwaways. The pick I did like was Harold, who wasn't a favorite in the draftnik community but offers double-digit sack potential as a developmental pass rusher. I expected a lot more projectable year-one impact from GM Trent Baalke's 2015 class. It wouldn't surprise me if one or even none of these players becomes a good football player right away.

Grade: D+

wow this review not so good for Baalke, The problem I have is I agree with most of it. My grade is c+

I don't know who you were quoting but if he was really expecting more year-one impact he needs to do more research.

Evan Silva has a massive Harboner, this is par for the course. I didn't even have to look up who posted that review.

my favorite player we drafted is Tarrt. I'm not sure how we are gonna utilize him this yr, but he has a bright future, love the way he plays. Great in run stoppage, but the question is can he cover? Let's hope so.
My kool aid is thick. I honestly think we killed the draft. Smelter and Harold were two of my favorites and imo will turn out to be steals in this draft. I like Ariks upside and trust Balke and Tomsula with this pick. Dont know anything about our 2nd round pick and The punter pick bummed me out but Solid B+ for me.

I don't hate this draft, I'm just worried about a staff that's not proven (working together) to make this all work. And while Tomsula is a great DL coach, he couldn't make Balmer a worthy starter.

Balmer did`nt want it and that is NOT Tomsula`s fault , Armstead said He is willing to get better,He wants it,a tale of 2 guys going in different directions,Apples and Oranges.

There is also a Sleeper in the UDFA and He has some serious Skills as a WR,Darius Davis,a Power and Elite speed wr, I hope He makes the 53 team Squad and that He dresses every gamehttps://www.google.com/search?q=WR+Darius+Davis%2C+Henderson+State&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Solid B with the potential for more:

Arik Armstead - Likely inactive a lot in 2015, but should anchor the LDE position for years to come
Jaquiski "Pop" Tartt - Special teamer now, but could be the eventual starter next to Reid with size, speed and athleticism
Eli Harold - Could be an excellent nickel pass rusher or eventual starter should Aldon/Lynch regress
Blake Bell - Love his size at the TE position and could be a match-up nightmare
Mike Davis - LOVE THIS PICK. Reminds me a lot of Gore and think he's an ideal compliment to Hyde
DeAndre Smelter - LOVE THIS PICK EVEN MORE. IMO, potential #1 talent once healthy. Major steal here
The punter - No commentIan Silberman - ???
Trenton Brown - If he can keep his weight in check, has the potential to be a dominating o-lineman
Rory "Busta" Anderson - Great height/speed combo at TE; could be a major steal if he can develop and stay healthy

Clearly it all depends on how they develop, but there is absolutely no doubt that they drafted a ton of talent with the common themes of size, speed and ability.

I agree with your take on this draft,The Smelter pick was just what we need ,He is our Future No.1 wr for years to come once He`s healthy and gleam all he can from Boldin,He is like a Clone of Boldin already....Baalke was more open about what He was looking for ,Built to win late in the season ,Big,Tough, and Coachable with Some Speed, they also Have a nother WR from UDFA he is Tough,Powerful and has Elite speed and Good Hands 5'11" 214,kinda built like a RB but plays like a WR.This is a great draft.
Slapping a grade on it doesn't mean anything. Here's my initial thoughts...

17. Oregon DE Arik Armstead: We get a guy with a lot of potential. Worst-case he's a run stopping DE that can absorb multiple blockers. I expect him to challenge for a starting job by late in the year.

46. Samford S Jaquiski Tartt: I didn't know anything about him, so it was a shock. However, he looks like a thumper and will make receivers think twice about catching the ball in traffic. Most importantly, with Reid's health we desperately needed an upgrade over Dahl. Our secondary has a gaping hole when he's on the field. Tartt will get on the field this year and that'll be valuable moving into next year. I question the value though. Was he really rated that high and did other teams have him up there too. Trading back seemed like a real possibility.

79. Virginia OLB Eli Harold: I don't think many people realize how bad we needed another passer rusher. Aldon is going to tempted into free agency and should get paid serious cash. Brooks is probably gone next year too. Lynch and Harold might be our starters heading into training camp next summer. Having him take a year to develop is smart. Baalke is looking into the future with these guys.

117. Oklahoma TE Blake Bell: I really like the player, but this felt like a reach. I think he's a smooth athlete and better looking than Vance was coming out.

126. South Carolina RB Mike Davis: Don't love the pick, but it'd the 4th round and it provides us with some depth when Bush leaves. The only way I think he gets on the field is if Reggie and Hunter get injured (always seems possible).

132. Georgia Tech WR DeAndre Smelter: I really like the pick. He was drafted to fall in behind Boldin.

165. Clemson P Bradley Pinion: Man, I hate this pick. If it's about clearing money with Lee's contract, trade back or wait until the 7th. Mind boggling pick... I'm hoping he surprises us and can punt the ball 60 yards down the field with unheard of hang time. Just confused with this one. Booming leg that results in touch backs? Teams have been known to carry a guy just for kick offs to negate returners. I'm reaching for anything here.

190. Boston College OG Ian Silberman: Meh, don't know anything about him.

244. Florida OG Trent Brown: I like the pick. He's a monster and looks like a nice prospect to develop at LG.

254. South Carolina TE Rory Anderson: Others here compared him to Delanie and I could see him being used in that form. I doubt he makes the team. Practice squad player who might make a roster If the stays healthy.

He is going to be on special teams and maybe play nickle other than that I think we wet the bed in this draft

All the reports I read about Tartt glowed about his instincts. He's a play maker as well as a thumper and may be Bethea's replacement in a year or so.

Honestly when I watched Tartts highlights, it reminded me of Patrick Willis. Obviously they play different positions, but they have similar instincts

Agree! He's one of those guys who isn't fast in a 40 but always seems to be batting down passes or cutting off runners at the LOS..

Edit: I take it back...he's faster than Reid! Can that be right? Wow! No...exactly the same 40 time!
