This. In light of the Borland retirement, trading down would make the most sense. 49ers all of a sudden have quite a few needs.

Un-f**king-believable.

Apparently with Harbaugh out of the picture, there are a boatload of people on this team looking for the exit as opposed the entrance to the locker room.

Yikes big time. I think the Niners need to trade down and accumulate multiple second round picks. Now they need a start ILB, DE, CB, yikes.
trade down more likely.

What would it take to trade up for DE/DT USC Leonard Williams? If he's available at #2 or #3 what would it cost the 49ers?

Possibly next years 1 and 2.

Done.

Agreed. Trade back, get Stephone Anthony in the late 1st and begin filling out the roster. Might even want to think about extending Wilhoite a few years in the event Bowman doesn't recover adequately.

Agree on getting Anthony, he might still be on the board at #46 in the 2nd, most mocks have him going late 2nd. Baalke still trades down from #15 in the 1st.

But given our glaring need at ILB, is it worth the risk to wait until the 2nd and hope he's still around? Sometimes you have to give up a little value to go get the players you need, so "overdrafting" to secure one of the top ILBs wouldn't bother me one bit.
if anything, trade a few mid round picks to get into the 3rd again ...we need impact players ...this year is crucial we get back to winning again ...late round picks are good to have around to develop starters down the road, but we need production from our picks NOW ...I didn't feel this way before, but with Borland retiring, I want solid players for our team

If Shelton drops past the top 10, move up to nab him. Fix the interior of the defense by helping the ILBs do their job better, not by directly addressing the ILB position in the first round. Get the ILB prospect in the mid rounds. Perhaps the 3rd round, hoping for another Bow/Borland type. Very meh on Wilhoite, but he can hold it down for 1 year while the ILB prospect develops. Shelton can play right away. Just spitballing.

I would be all for Shelton in the 1st, I'm just not confident in Dorsey and Ian Williams coming off their injuries and have a hard time staying healthy. I'm not saying I hope they release them I just don't think they are true starters. But fix the interior DL I agree, ILB can be had in the 2nd and 3rd.

The management must not panic...

We just need to let this draft come to us, instead of us trying to force an issue..

Round One - If we can trade up to land the DL (Williams, Shelton, Dupree or even Fowler) then we must stay put and see who's there for the taking.

Knowing Baalke, if Dupree, Parker and Waynes available, expect him to go with a CB.

1) Trae Waynes; CB - Michigan State ( I would pick: Devante Parker)

2) Paul Dawson; ILB - TCU (Baalke would fall more for his him because of speed but again, I like McKinney)

3) Stephon Anthony; ILB - Clemson (Baalke is hoping to land a Bowman between Dawson and Anthony so this is going to be a gamble, I would pick either
Odighizuwa or Carl Davis if available)

4a) Darren Waller; WR - Georgia Tech (this is where Baalke drafts a WR for the fans, while he likes the size of Waller, I just think that another CB is more needed in Alex Carter)

4b) Trenton Brown; OT - FSU (Baalke will land his Swing Tackle here, but I would rather take OLB - Zach Hodges from Harvard)

5) Malcolm Brown; RB - Texas (He misses Booby Dixon, but I really like the more graceful Karlos Williams)

6) Ellis McCarthy; DT - UCLA (can't argue w/this pick, but I like the once 1st overall recruit in WR George Farmer of USC)

7A) BPA vs BAA

7B) PUNTER vs KICKER
