Against #5 Texas A&M (88th vs the pass): 21 catches for 233 yards and 4 TDs

Just saying, whether the numbers are inflated or not -- as is the case with Tyler Lockett this year -- he deserves credit for his performances.

That's fair - he did perform well against the better competition, so the SoS didn't really matter. He still benefited from their offense running 88 plays per game which inflated his numbers against all opponents. We've seen other players come out of offenses like Oregon or Texas Tech that inflate numbers and Louisana Tech was like that in 2012. More opportunities, tired defenses, and an effective running game tend to lead to more big plays and NFL teams must not have thought highly of him for him to drop to 128. He's a 4.5-4.6 guy who is willing to go over the middle and has pretty good length and hands. I don't see him as a deep threat at all at this level.

I really want QP to get more reps. I think he can replace Crab without the selfish crap. I don't think he's ever gonna be a dynamic deep threat or red zone monster.

If the 49ers are indeed bringing in Torrey Smith, then I think the odds of them taking a WR anytime in the first 2 rounds just dropped significantly.

Interesting how free agency has changed the WR draft. With Niners getting Torrey Smith, they might not take a WR until 3rd or 4th Rd - Dezmin Lewis, Tre McBride, Stefon Diggs, Justin Hardy, etc. I could see Baalke going OL in Rd1 with Peat, Erving or Humphries with a trade down into the 20s, then goin RB and CB in Rd2 (Ajayi at RB and either Byron Jones or Alex Carter at CB). Now being reported that KC is getting Jeremy Maclin, so that probably also eliminates Chiefs taking a WR in Rd1 at #18.

If the Niners get Torry Smith will they be looking for height, red-zone profiency, or speed, and in what round? With the players we have, including Torrey Smith, what would we be looking for in a WR now?

or wait a bit and take DSmith. TSmith, Dsmith, and VDavis running deep, with Boldin running free underneath? That could be cool. Honestly though, I still really want a receiver who creates instant mismatches above his head in the red zone. Vance could be that guy, if HaRoman didn't screw up his back while stunting his development. Boldin used to do that pretty well from the slot, but we haven't used him that way. DGB, Jalen Strong, Davante Parker, Devin Funchess, and Dezmin Lewis seem like guys in this draft who could do that. Obviously, they'll be going at different places in the draft, so there is potential to employ various strategies and still get one, if that's what Baalke wants.

Jalen Strong will be this years surprise WR. Book it! I like Justin Hardy in the mid to late rounds. I like Lockett and Crowder as mid to late round returners.

Tre McBride should be the pick in the third. He is going to be a beastly X one day.

+1, McBride is the one WR I'd go after in the mid rounds. Niners most likely goin DL, CB in first 2 Rds.
