I would not hate the pick honestly. He may be extremely raw but he has enormous upside and Cowboy coming back for a year would be the best thing for him if he lands with us. Having 2 vets who have had the success they have had in both 3-4 and 4-3 D's in Smith and Dockett, along with a DC who coached guys like Seymour and Wilfork and a HC who has a good track record with developing DL talent would be a good landing spot for AA.

He is not my favorite prospect but he is quite intriguing and the consensus has been that he is a pretty good value at 15. I forsee a lot of angry fans if we go with AA but I am onboard if he is the BPA.

No not first pick don't want
NO NO NO NO NO NO! Has bust written all over him, looks soft especially against Ohio State. I'd take Shelton or Brown if we go D line. No more Oregon players please!

You're going to get a guy with pass rush ability? How many sacks did he have in college? Like two? And his highlight video is like a minute long lol. This guy would be a terrible pick at 15.
hopefully baalke doesn't go w/ him just b/c everybody is saying he's our pick

I'm pretty much in this same boat as well. If Baalke, Tomsula and Mangini are all on board with this pick, how could ANYONE argue that vote of confidence?

Recent history would suggest that our first rounder will definitely not be the consensus media pick.
I don't think a top 15 pick should be such a project. I wouldn't touch Armstead unless we trade down into mid-late 20s.

I'm not the biggest fan of Armstead either. His teammate was a much better player than him, in my opinion. I think Armstead might be who we're leaning towards, but I'd much prefer Carl Davis over him.

I'll take Brown over Goldman all day every day....Neither are worth top 15 pick at all though. I want a potential 3 down player and Goldman is strictly a 2 down NT, great against the run, but offers zero in pass-rush. You don't draft a 2 down player at 15...period.

That's a ridiculous comment, considering Aldon Smith was a top 10 pick & was a 1 down player right off the bat.

Maybe you didnt see Goldman much at FSU, I did & id say he gets excellent push up the middle in pass rush. Goldman is a beast stout strong good nose for the ball, basically a perfect 3-4 NG. Besides that I see no problem taking a 2 down starter in the top 15, especially since the 49ers havent used their DT's on third down anyways..

I watched him plenty, I'm a huge FSU fan....so you're fine with drafting a player at 15 who be on the field 40% of the time??? That makes zero sense.

You're comparison of Smith doesn't hold water because he doesn't play a 2-down position at OLB.... a NT in our defense will never be on the field that much.

We don't need a NT

Here is a article that explains a little of Goldman

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/04/14/cff-overview-di-buyer-beware/

His 4.9 Run Stop Percentage in games against Power 5 opponents placed him outside the Top 50 draft-eligible defensive tackles and 3-4 defensive ends.

NO THANKS

If there's one thing I'm certain of when watching the 49ers draft, it's that Baalke is not the least bit concerned with who the mock drafts are saying we should pick.

Why do you think the 49ers are leaning towards Armstead? Please explain that to me.
