Forget Armstead...forget Carl Davis. If Baalke's taking a DL with his 1st pick there are really only two choices: Eddie Goldman or Malcolm Brown. They're both elite DL, have versatility and no baggage, no work ethic issues. They have non-stop motors and either guy can make an impact right away. Do you really think either Armstead or Carl Davis could tie up 2 blockers on virtually every play? No way. Goldman can do that. They could plug Brown in just about anywhere on the DL. Too much talent, too much versatility to pass up.

In our 1- gap scheme Carl Davis and Armstead could be great players at the 5-tech. Goldman is a great player but we have depth at nose ( knock on wood).Originally posted by CorvaNinerFan:Forget Armstead...forget Carl Davis. All initially ahead of him on the depth chart. Oh and not to mention another large athletically gifted prospect who is a about an inch shorter, 10 lbs heavier, and a better 40 time in Okoye.
"Logically" this pick is that this position has been addressed heavily in recent drafts/FA periods that picking DL over and over again would be "Millen-ish".
Our 1st round pick needs to be an initial contributor or insurance or stud on the OL.
This. We need a starting CB, IMO.

This weekend is gonna be awesome. I couldn't get off from work but I get off early day for the draft. And Avengers 2 comes out draft night. Gonna hit a local bar/grill for round 1 then go see Avengers afterwards. Night two gonna order some to go and chill in man cave while I watch the draft. Saturday work early that morning and get off just in time for the draft.

Trade down, pick up an extra high 3rd, select Byron Jones at ~#27-32 range. With the extra 3rd pick either Henry Anderson DE or Chris Conley WR. . . . . Thereby turn the #1 pick into two eventual starters, both with high potential

Add in Stephone Anthony or Kendricks with the 2nd pick and golden. (May require trade up to top of second)

Trade for Kendrick's brother for a 4th would be even better
and replace Conley with Lockett

It would be fun to see Sherman try to stick with Lockett.
