All these mocks that have us taking him scare me. Please no Trent!
Right?! I just don't see the production on the field, he's big and athletic but super raw. I feel like his arms should be bigger (33 inches) for a guy standing 6-7?

I don't hate him as a prospect, but seeing his name constantly as the 49ers pick is driving me nuts! He's a huge project player, and a guy that I feel should be a late first, early second round pick. Calais Campbell is a guy he's been compared to, but I just don't see it. Campbell was considered a project but he at least produced in college. 19.5 sacks and over 30 tackles for loss. Armstead had what, 3.5 sacks over his college career?

Huge project pick for sure.
Then again, learning from Dockett could be a great thing for him. Rotate him for now while he learns.
I'm just so torn on this guy!! it really frustrates me

What analysts correctly had us drafting Ward, Jenkins, Aldon, moving up for Reid, etc? Don't really want this guy, was not that impressed in the games I saw and because so many "experts" have him coming to us, I fully expect it NOT to happen lol.
I do trust our FO on the D side of the ball and Tomsula must have some say if we decide to go d-line. If we do Armstead, I think we have to give our coaches the benefit of the doubt before immediately labeling him a disappointment.

one thing I noticed about AA while watching the tape on draftbreakdown is that he was double teamed a lot. When he did get a one on one match up he got decent penetration. He struggled at times to get off his block on run plays. He flashes potential but no real production. I know a lot of people have us grabbing him at #15 but I don't know why. Now if we grabbed him at #46 I would be o.k. with that.

I did notice that he was doubled a lot and he should be getting penetration on one-on-ones based on his size. I didn't see much besides a bull-rush move either. I think he has the potential to be a very good player 2-3 years from now, I think he should be a 2nd round pick and I wouldn't be surprised if he falls....
Now that I said that he will be the pick lol

Do not want. We don't need a project player in the first round, again.

Not a fan of this guy. There are plenty of project players that we can take later in the draft. I want somebody that can either step in and start on day one of make a significant contribution.

Again, not a fan of him at 15 or in the 2nd round. He's horrible at stopping the run and that's what the 9ers need on defense. I'd take Henry Anderson over Armstead in a heartbeat!!!

there has to be a reason that so many analysts have him going to us in the 1st I just don't see it

It's unlikely if Armstead couldn't dominate at the college level, he won't be able to do that in the NFL. Having size is great, but it's how you use it that matters. He doesn't seem willing and/or able to use it to his advantage. In the pros, he'll be going up against top-flight OL every week.

These experts need their heads examined...you don't spend a 1st rd pick on a guy who may not even start for a year or two. Especially not when Baalke should have Goldman and/or Malcolm Brown on the board. Don't be fooled into thinking Goldman's just a NT...he played both DT and DE for FSU. He's a beast as is Brown and either guy could realistically produce from the get-go.
