Don't draft in 1st
not too confident on "taking a chance" on a D Lineman in the 1st? , there is no guarantee that a dominant college D Lineman will come in and be productive for us right off the bat, we got burned by the Balmer and McGrew 1st round picks , so naturally I'm hesitant , I would rather we drafted a CB , OL or WR in the first , with Dockett, Dorsey, Williams, Carradine, TJE and Dial already on the roster, it will be tough for any rookie D Lineman to come and crack the rotation
The problem with not taking one of the top DL early is the talent falls off fairly sharply afterwards...Ray Mac's gone, Justin SMith's likely to retire and filling those two positions won't be easy. Carradine's not a proven starter...the return of Dorsey will solidify NT, but who will fill JS's spot? Dockett, probably, depending on how Mangini wants to structure his DL rotation. Let's look further, though...Dockett's 34 (or will be this year). Ian Williams is in the last year of his contract. Dial got some good experience last year, but is he a starter? TJE's back, but is he a starter? I think the answer is probably no for either player. So, despite what Tomsula said about the depth, there's still reason for concern. I don't see a real stud among those guys...and if JT and Baalke see one in this draft, they should draft him. It's not about whomever they pick starting right away...it's about securing a quality DL for the future, so the time for them to be proactive is now.

Physically he's a beast and with Tomsula coaching him he could become one of the best 3-4 DE. He's primarly a two gaping run stopper that doesn't get the big plays but plugs the hole great and let's the linebackers make the play. He's huge at 6'7 292, so the physical tools are all there. He has shown flashes of a pass rush that could develop into something great with some coaching. He's really strong at the point of attack but plays so high it negates a lot of the advantages his height and strength give him. He's raw but could become a force in a few years.

Sounds like he does have some up side pair him and tank
The only thing beastly about Armstead is his size...his production wasn't up to snuff. What makes anyone think he'll be better in the NFL? Both Goldman and Malcolm Brown are considerably better options...they have size, versatility and non-stop motors that are consistently productive.

That is the positive, because he's linked and mocked to us so much chances are we won't take him

There are many examples of players becoming better pros then they were college players and vice versa. If the draft was that easy you and I could do it.
I'm tired of seeing all these mock of us taking this kid....I just don't see the value in grabbing him at 15, and "draft experts" seem to just place him at 15 because we kinda need DL help lol....

I just don't see us taking him that early.

When has Baalke ever selected who draft experts put in their mock draft to us? A few had Eric Reid, but outside of that, I can't remember anyone getting the choice right.

This dude any good I see his name keeps popping up in the mocks.
Bust writing all over him pass
I can't believe the amount of hype he's gotten. I'm an Oregon fan, but don't see whet his play should warrant anywhere close to #15. I see another Adam Karriker.
All these mocks that have us taking him scare me. Please no Trent!
