Watt hands down. He is the best defensive player in the league right now. Both are 25 years old. Watt is known off the field for charitable work, not for reckless drunken behavior that gets him arrested and suspended by the NFL. Anyone who picks Aldon Smith has a severe case of homeritis.

This.

How can you actually sit here and say that Aldon belongs in the same league as JJ??

Are you looking at talent wise??

Production wise??

career wise thus far??

Because if you do believe that he belongs w/the JJ Watts, then you wouldn't mind giving Aldon "The Fake Bomber" a $100 million contract...

yoooo fooohhhhh!!!

This. End thread.

Exactly.
On another note, I don't get the point of this thread. It may be fun to some, but it would be akin to a Vikings fan asking their fan base in 1995, who would you rather have Cris Carter or Jerry Rice? Or a Cowboys fan asking the same question, replacing Carter with Michael Irvin. Of course Rice is the better player and you'd rather have him, but why rub it in the face of your fellow fans?
I'd take Aldon.....just kidding.
The truth is we know how good Watt is, with Aldon there has not been enough time on the field. We will see early on Aldon's impact on a team when he gets back.

I'm pretty sure we know how good Aldon is already being that he has 42 sacks in 43 games... the best in the history of the game......

He belongs in the same league in all of those categories. Smith has a half sack more than Watt in less games and both have 1 interception. I'm not saying Aldon is better but to say he doesn't belong in the same league is pretty silly.

No question Aldon is a player that dominates, but can he be otherworldly like Watt, time will tell.

A few times this year I have listened on the radio to games that involve the Houston Texans. JJ Watt pretty much gets mentioned on every play. He is one of those rare defensive players that on top of being a physical freak he has incredible field vision and a nose for the football. The Texans let him free lance to take advantage of his wide range of skills. Nobody wrecks havoc on an opponent's offense the way J.J. Watt does, therefore no one is in his league.
JJ Watt is the FAR BETTER PLAYER.

Plus he is 0% of the trouble. This tool missed 2 seasons now. 5 games for rehab and 9 games of suspension across 2 years. You are only useful if you PLAY! I'm sorry the WZ guys who say it only counts when you play and not rehab, not suspensions, not arrests, not felony charges, not shooting guns in the air, not crashing into a tree way above the legal limit, not getting arrested at the airport are WRONG. That IS PART OF THE EVALUATION! Aldon Smith is a troubled fool. Good player yes. But he doesn't even play. He just missed large portions of 2 years. You got him on a rookie contract which are usually 4 - 5 years only. So half of that he wasted.

That is part of the evaluation. Aldon Smith is a bad pick. If you could have JJ Watt that is. Watt is even better on the field IMO. He's 1,000 times better off the field.

The last time I checked being on the field was important to the total evaluation. If you are always in rehab, suspended, getting arrested and facing felony charges then you aren't much use to your team. They guys WHO PLAY make a difference. Not the guys forever trying to put their troubled life together.
I have to admit if i could travel back in time i could think of alot better things to do then re draft football players.Maybe like find a sports alamanac and be the richest person in the world and buy jessica alba before she had kids.lol
Watt..... the if?
