We need an impact starter or two. We do have a solid roster but that has only proved to make us competitive but not good enough to be the best. We had all the ammo to get an impact, starter but instead we have players that will contribute in 2-3 years when the guys we have now are done and proved not to be good enough to win Super Bowl.

We have the best team in the NFL. The seachickens have a huge stadium advantage we don't have. Opposing teams have to wear earplugs on offense. Pass blockers can't just drop into their stance they have to look back at the ball to see the snap. They can't get off on a snap count to drive block on the run. The seachickens can tee off on the rush and not have to worry about offsides because there is no snap count. This all makes a huge difference. Don't beleive me? The seachickens have lost 7 times as many games the last 2 years on the road as they have at home. 7 times.

Tell me you would trade rosters? Most of their starters would be back ups on our team. On D they would start no LB's , 3 in the DB and possibly 1-2 DL.
On offense none in the O-line, QB,TE or FB spots. They could start 1 WR, 1 RB. That's 5-7 of 22 starting positions they would take if the teams merged.

We have a solid roster? We have the best roster in the NFL. According to the draft charts it would have taken our 1st rd pick, both of our 2nd rd picks, our early 3rd rd pick and next years 1st rd pick to move up into the top ten if we could find a seller.Cleveland got the 9th pick in the draft, plus an early 4th rd pick and a 2015 1st rd pick that should be early as well to move from the 4th pick to the 9th pick.

If we don't go top ten then tell me who we could have moved up for and gotten an impact starter? Lay out the trade you believe we should have made to get this impact starter. Then tell us who you would draft and when to get the 2nd one as you stated an impact starter or two.

Ward should be our starting nickel CB. Martin might be our starting Center. Hyde will rotate in and be our short yardage back as well. Borland might start most of the year while we wait for Bowman to get back, who by the way is a huge impact starter we drafted in round 3 and had to wait a couple of years for him to develop. Probably should have packaged that pick with several others and moved up to get an impact player and not drafted Bowman, right?
I think Martin could really push Kilgore for starting C this year

Personally, I didn't mention anything about trading up. I think my key issue with this draft is first and foremost Baalke did not fill the need in a couple of skill positions, namely CB and WR. There were definitely good prospects to be had in the 2nd or even 3rd, but no he did nothing.

By the way, good pick with Paul Richardson !

Jimmy Ward and Stevie Johnson say hello ?

That is a false statement. Niners will have several starters in 1-2 years:

Ward: will replace Bethea as a starter at SS
Hyde: will replace Gore as a starter at RB
Martin: will probably be the starter at C
Borland: will backup the best ILB tandem in the league
Thomas: will replace Iupati if he leaves

Last years draft:

Reid: starter
Carradine: will replace McDonald or Smith
Lemonier: has a chance to be a starter once Brooks retires/leaves
Patton: has a chance to be the #2 WR, at least be the slot WR

I dont think OP has a clue

Talk to me in 2015 when Smith, McDonald, Culliver, Dorsey, Crabtree, Gore, Kaepernick, Iupati, Snyder, and others are free agents.

How about a potential lock down nickel corner in Ward ?

How about a perfect fit for our WR group in Johnson ?

How about a 1st round talent in Carradine joining the D-Line ?

So, last season doesn't count ? Does that mean we had a bad draft last year then ?

Nope!!! Reid is a baller... Tank, latamier, we have yet to see their play tho. Before inj where 1st rd grades. Corey lemineir a good situational pass rusher, considered by many kinda rawish. But jury still out on last yrs draft. Considering reids awesome play n impact id say its looking real good so far! 2012 id say safe to say was bombed a bit tho

WR? did we not just trade for Stevie Johnson? Maybe Baalke selected probowlers, and you just don't realize it. Who are the future probowlers that you wanted?

I see. So, I guess what you are saying is we didn't win the Super Bowl simply because of bad luck ? Not that luck doesn't factor in, but so do talents. That is my point. In the case of the Seahawks, I believe they had a better team than us, that was why we lost the NFC Championship. You can't blame luck on Kap's 3 turnovers.

One last thing...
Most of the Seahawks team is made up of players they drafted in various rounds.
Traded for Lynch and Harvin, sure.
Legion of Boom? All drafted, I don't believe they traded up in a massive deal for any one of them either.

So.. Weak arguments and weak support.

Seahawks won due to their very aggressive and physical style of play.
They stretched the rules to extreme limits, and it paid off. Big time.

Perhaps I should be more specific, I was referring to mainly CBs and WRs. I am not precluding Jimmie Ward although many question about Ward's selection and him being taken somewhat high. Plus, most also believe we would draft 2 legit CBs. As for WRs, obviously we have none cos up to the end of 3rd we are yet to draft one.
Over and over and over the point of draft is to build for the future... FOR GOOD TEAMS. When we were picking in the top 10 - you're right - we *needed* impact players to start day one. This time around we are literally drafting for the future (and plugging a need a CB w/ first round and not even messing with trying to draft a WR).

I think that Jimmie Ward will be on the field quite a bit. Otherwise, we'll see Stevie Johnson a ton... hopefully Martin pushes for C this year. Carlos Hyde will probably be our short yardage back to start with. Only time will tell.

That's what good teams do, though. Finally we are a perennial good team again!

What does projected starter mean to you? right away, or eventually? Borland has a great chance to start week one, Ward will take over safety eventually. You got both bases covered. Martin has a great chance to be a starter to. I don't see your POV at all

The only thing that will put us over the hump is the progression of Kap as a QB. If he doesn't turn the corner with his QB abilities then the draft and all our new FA toys are moot.
