It would cost a 2nd round pick if not more in my opinion. They chose not to take his 5th year option which would have been $13.2 million. This doesn't mean they are done with them. If he plays well this year and stays healthy, he'll still be worth the franchise tag of slightly over $16 million. If he doesn't, he may not be worth the $13.2 million anyways.

He's only getting paid $3.1 million this year which is a bargain so he's still valuable in a trade (much more valuable than a mid or late round pick).

We're not in a great position to trade away draft picks for guys on one year deals. We still don't have a franchise QB and it looks like there could be options available in the 2018 draft. As a rebuilding team, it wouldn't make sense to trade for a player like Watkins to chase after a couple more wins this year.

There's a reason we chose not to spend much in free agency. We brought in some guys to teach young players the new system, but we're still in rebuild (tank) mode. Players don't tank, but Lynch chose not to keep $71 million in cap space going into the season.

Sammy is a BEAST. He goes up after 50/50 balls like he's got the Super-AIDS and the ball is filled with the cure. He runs through the guys he can't run around. On top of that, he is a speed acceleration freak who can run away from coverage like you stuffed hiss azz full of steak and loosed a starving tiger after him. I like Cooks just fine, but you need to step away from the pipe, buddy.

No, I didn't predict the injuries. I even said Sammy was going to be good in this thread (the quote was "I love Sammy."), which he was when he was healthy. But Cooks is the better player, and he'll continue to be better going forward.

Also, Cooks has always been more flexible, graceful & coordinated; Sammy always played a little stiff in comparison. This is one of the reasons I so vehemently endorsed Corey Davis over Mike Williams from 2015 on.

AGAIN, what an obnoxious post! After 3 years, their career trajectories are set, and of course we'd have to assume that the only variation between the two players is within their control? Please, Cooks could be the next to suffer a rash of injuries, or Brees could retire and Cooks' production could plummet.

The crack pipe statement was in response to your assumption that Cooks would be considered for the HOF. I still like Watkins better than Cooks in any offense other than N.O.'s, Seattle's, New England's, and (oddly enough) ours, and I don't think Watkins has a shot of getting into the HOF.

Cooks has started well (better than Watkins), catching passes from Drew Brees in an offense designed by Sean Payton.

Watkins hasn't done as well, dealing with injuries while catching passes from Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel in offenses run by Hackett, Roman, and Lynn.

Yes, Cooks is more fluid and agile than Watkins, but that hasn't stopped the likes of Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin (who I don't like at all) from putting up big numbers in the right fit. Acting like you know more than you do is off putting and pathetic.

Cool, you liked Davis more than Williams. So did I, as well as half the zone. No one else is beating their chest over it, and no one predicted Williams would miss this season. It's certainly too early to call that one a win, imo.

I don't know what you are looking to get out of your time at the Webzone, but I'd be surprised if the way you post is helping you get it.
