How much would you give up for Andrew Luck in 2012?

I figured this was the plan when we traded our 2nd rounder to Carolina for their first. Kind of just assumed his injuries scared us off, and St. Louis decided he was their guy pretty early on and didn't really entertain many trade offers (at least not down to 13 and 17 or wherever we were).

I don't think Sing had a plan or a clue. but my point is just that a team cannot plan on who will be next years trading partner or for who they wanna get.

The organization was convinced that Alex just need continuity and a better line. We didn't see a need at quarterback hence why Singletary put no competition against Alex.

Agreed, just my attempt at a "hindsight is 20/20" question.
I think Luck's stock can only go down from here ... the whole Stanford coaching staff is just about gone to the Niners ... History has proven time and time again when these guys decide to stay it costs them big bucks (ex. Matt Lienart, Jake Locker) and many more i cant think of right now ... lol .. so weather it be injury, bad season or a different up and coming QB (ex.Cam Newton) i don't think it will take that much to get him ... might even fall to us especially if this Lockout drags much longer i think we'll be picking 10 - 15 next year.

Go Niners 2013 = SB win # 6
Want to guarantee the first pick in next year's draft?

Have David Baas and Dominique Ziegler swap jerseys, have Baas play QB and Ziegler C, with Andy Lee and Joe Nedney as RBs. Then stick Soap, RJF, Evans, and McDonald in the defensive backfield, and the Niners will get that pick for sure.

Sam Bradford returned for his senior year, proceeded to break himself, miss the entire year, and still go #1. Scouts know talent when they see it.

If Locker came out last year he would of been #1 not Bradford ... and last years QB class was awful ... but point well taken...
That's too much to give. He can drop off the way Locker did this year. He's without Harbaugh coaching now. So we will see how he does. 1 player can also get injured. You can lose him forever on one play. 3 first rounders is way too much to give up. The guy has not played even 1 down in the NFL. You have no idea what he will be. There have been plenty of can't miss players over time in the draft. Lots of them have indeed missed.

Im just dreaming im not high but I would love it if we could somehow manage to trade this yrs 1st if petersen dareus or von miller isnt on the board for another second this yr and next yrs 1st so that next yr we would b armed wit two 1st rd and a 2nd rd to cash in to one of these teams bound to pick a qb high this yr and still fiddle out ending up wit the top pick next yr. I would give up two high 1s and my 2nd to get andrew luck if I were convinced he was gonna b a stud for the next ten yrs.

Nothing.if it happens it happens if it don't it don't.

I'd give three 1st round picks.

Hard to argue now that we have a chance to review our 2012 draft class. Yes, we should have traded all our picks to get Luck. But even more important than a QB, is the coach. Who would you rather have Coach Bill Walsh or QB Joe Montana? Easy, you pick Bill Walsh every time.

Now that Tomsula is the coach, will he be able to develop Kap or bring in another young QB? Only time will tell.

Well, we should have given up all our 2012 draft picks....since that draft was a complete and total whiff! I am starting to realize the Scotty is much more responsible for building this team and Baalke is responsible for destroying it. This is starting to look like the Joe Thomas Era part II
