Watching all his highlights I really though his best fit was as a 4-3 end, but with his measurements he really looks the part of a 3-4 ROLB, and I know many in this forum believe that he can not only make the transition, but be a monster at that position

I would like to get him but don't see it as a possibility

Boston College LB Mark Herzlich looked ridiculous at the #SeniorBowl weigh-in this morning. Herzlich is cancer's worst enemy!

As a BC alum, I am rooting for this guy hard. Too bad he is an ILB.

I thought he was an OLB?

My bad. For some reason I didn't think he fit as a 3-4 OLB.

You could be right. Is seems to be a bit undersized for a 3-4 OLB, but I can't help but like and want him on our term just because he is mentally tough and a leader.

I didn't see his measurements today, but he is 6'4", 244lbs, so he isn't tiny. If he could put on some more weight he might be a good OLB in the 3-4. I mean, before the cancer, he was on the fast track to a Top 10 pick when he left college.

I was basing my statement on him being 237ish, but of course that is unofficial number from a website.

For 3-4 OLB, I believe the ideal weight is around 250s, but course it is hard to quantify heart and drive.

The official numbers for Herzlich came to 6'3 5/8", 250.

Sweet. I would like to see him in agility drills at the combine.

Someone said he is put into coverage more than he is asked to rush the passer so I wonder how his pass rushing skills are. Baalke values 3-4 OLB that can rush, set the edge against the run and then cover.

Two years ago, when he was dominant, Herzlich was better in coverage than attacking the QB. But, he is a well-rounded player, versatile.

Maybe it's just me but when I've seen Herzlich, I think Mike Vrabel. While not overly dominate as a pass-rusher, he's versatile enough to be used at any of the LB spots in the 3-4(inside or outside). To me he screams Patriot or Steeler in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Most likely the latter unless he really shows the scouts something these next few months.

I might be wrong, but doesn't Dom Capers/Vic Fangio's system really like versatile LB's also since they are progeny of Dick LeBeau? They like being able to move LB's all around. If that is the case, the Niners might be interested also.

I think he could play as a 3-4 OLB. He has good quickness and strength and is really good in coverage, so he can do a lot of things. If you guys remember correctly Clay Matthews wasn't a pass rusher in college because he wasn't used that way.

He certainly was used as a pass-rusher... not to the extent his now, but he got alot of pressure on QBs at sc
If Locker looks good playing with actual talent this week he could be our QB at #7 IMO. I want to hear more about how the QBs looked.

Washington quarterback Jake Locker looked good today throwing the ball, and during the weigh-in. Locker easily passes the "eye ball" test and has the look of a great athlete. Locker has better arm strength than many notice, and it showed today on quick slants and hitches. This is a time when offensive players are still getting comfortable with each other, so do not pay too much attention to early interceptions due to miscommunication.

Christian Ponder looked great at weigh-ins. If he can prove he is fully recovered from elbow surgery his stock could rise.

Andy Dalton is again showing why he is moving up draft boards with crisp passes and good mobility.

Not overly impressed with Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick. He looked uncomfortable throwing the ball and hasn't flashed the passing skills I've heard hyped.

Nice. We could take any of the first three IMO, so I want all of them to do well.

These are the players that started to impress me. G/T Carimi, DE/OLB Jordan,
WR Young, QB Kaepernick, TE DJ Williams.

You don't mean the guy from Cal right? Cuz no way he's a OLB, even in the 3-4
The guys posting here strike me as the draft junkies (meant in a good way). I would guess that most of you would prefer the 9ers not trading away any draft choices to get a vet QB; it would just give you guys fewer choices to play with during the draft.

My second observation is that those QBs were prbably stretching for all they were worth. Put those 6" 2" guys on the field in a relaxed state, and they are probably more like 6" 1".

Yes! I just put OLB/DE but he is a DE! but they also rush him standing up that's why I put OLB.

Don't put any stock in bleach report. It's a fan site and if you watched the pratice you see Locker had no touch at all.

^ That report is all kinds of backwards! Kaepernick looked really comfortable running plays and Locker missed his first five passes.
Oh, I didn't know they rushed Jordan standing up in practice. They must have been testing something but still no way he'll be a OLB at the next level.

And I do agree on not putting too much stock on BR articles, but also it is good to read everyone's perspective.

Like someone said today, at worse people will think the same things of Locker after this week than they did before today. I do think he only helps himself in the Senior Bowl, and I'm interested to see how he looks in practices towards the end of the week
