Boston College LB Mark Herzlich looked ridiculous at the #SeniorBowl weigh-in this morning. Herzlich is cancer's worst enemy!

As a BC alum, I am rooting for this guy hard. Too bad he is an ILB.

I thought he was an OLB?

My bad. For some reason I didn't think he fit as a 3-4 OLB.

You could be right. Is seems to be a bit undersized for a 3-4 OLB, but I can't help but like and want him on our term just because he is mentally tough and a leader.

I didn't see his measurements today, but he is 6'4", 244lbs, so he isn't tiny. If he could put on some more weight he might be a good OLB in the 3-4. I mean, before the cancer, he was on the fast track to a Top 10 pick when he left college.

I was basing my statement on him being 237ish, but of course that is unofficial number from a website.

For 3-4 OLB, I believe the ideal weight is around 250s, but course it is hard to quantify heart and drive.

enjoyed watching the action. got to be careful not to overreact. prettiest throws of the day- locker. worst throws of the day-locker. ot's look solid.

carimi and solder looked good. kerrigan and solder come to a draw- one victory each. kerrigan's win over solder was spectacular.

carmichael looked terrific at cb, and jalil brown moves effortlessly. both stood out.

titus young looked quick on wr screen. heard reports he dropped 5 balls today. vincent brown of sdsu made some nice snatches
my thoughts.

Locker looked inconsistent
Titus Young was awesome

Was susprised by the 3 OTs, Carimi(able to play G), Solder and Castonzo

and Jordan was great, Would love to get him.

The official numbers for Herzlich came to 6'3 5/8", 250.

He put on some weight and didn't really lose much height in the official measurement. Depending on how he does at these events, he might be a good middle round pick. I think this guy could inspire a team for sure.

Thanks MadDog.

Castonzo also lined up at right guard. I think they are trying to get all three of them together in the starting lineup.

It would have been smarter to move one of these guys to the South squad, and match him up with Sherrod, who supposedly looked very sharp today. Sherrod also had the longest wingspan of any player at the Senior Bowl, at 83 7/8".

One note on Young: He is more of a 4.45 guy than D. Jackson, who a sub-4.35 player. I don't see the same on-field explosiveness, although he is pretty quick.

Sweet. I would like to see him in agility drills at the combine.

Someone said he is put into coverage more than he is asked to rush the passer so I wonder how his pass rushing skills are. Baalke values 3-4 OLB that can rush, set the edge against the run and then cover.

Thanks MadDog.

You know you will always get a high effort, high character player. Probably will end up a 3-4 rounder. Great story.

Two years ago, when he was dominant, Herzlich was better in coverage than attacking the QB. But, he is a well-rounded player, versatile.

Maybe it's just me but when I've seen Herzlich, I think Mike Vrabel. While not overly dominate as a pass-rusher, he's versatile enough to be used at any of the LB spots in the 3-4(inside or outside). To me he screams Patriot or Steeler in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Most likely the latter unless he really shows the scouts something these next few months.

I might be wrong, but doesn't Dom Capers/Vic Fangio's system really like versatile LB's also since they are progeny of Dick LeBeau? They like being able to move LB's all around. If that is the case, the Niners might be interested also.
Cameron Jordan would make a mean 3-4 DE, but not really sure if he could play the edge. Maybe if he lost a little weight...

Yep. I know Capers likes to move Clay Matthews around a lot. I've been doing a mock draft(that i haven't submitted yet) and every time I do the 2nd or 3rd rounds, I want to include Herzlich. At the same time I also want to try and fit in a 2nd or 3rd round QB prospect as well. lol i guess I could go with both though but that just means no Titus Young.
I thought Beal got bullied by the O linemen today. Kerrigan really flashed with an inside move. I thought they pegged him as a 43 DE though. I was hoping he could transition to OLB in the long tradition of Boilermakers to do so. Any of you draft gurus see him standing up?

Jordan is ALREADY a 3-4 end and a very good at that, he played mostly at LDE if I'm correct in Cal's defense but I'd think he could move over to the right side if needed.

Not sure what you mean about dropping weight, didn't he check in at 287? That's perfect it's what makes him attractive to 4-3 teams too since he could play inside or out in that scheme, something he did when the Bears were running a 4-3 before they switched to a 3-4 a couple of seasons ago
