The Ryan Mallett Bandwagon

They not only expect him to come out of college perfect, but he has to remain perfect in the NFL...otherwise, he's .

I wanted to be on his bandwagon but between the Alabama game and the Auburn game, big question mark. I dont see any leadership skills either. Huge arm, but Is he Joe Flacco? Or is he Derek Anderson?

Beggers can't be choosey

True but there is more than one way to skin a cat so no sense wasting a pick by reaching. I don't think he is worth the pick. Reminds me of Ryan Leaf

^ you didn't see leadership during the Auburn game because he didn't play, but 1 quarter. Alabama had him boxed because they were last in the nation in rushing at that time. That leads me to believe you didn't watch the game and you are just a follower jumping on the wagon.

dude has a cannon and looks elusive. I think these highlights are from last year to.
It's interesting to see what walterfootball.com has to say about Mallet in their new mock

Quote:
A couple of months ago, I listed Ryan Mallett in the second round of my 2011 NFL Mock Draft, citing major character conerns I knew about that would eventually surface.

Well, nothing surfaced, so I put Mallett back in the first round, assuming my source was wrong. Lo and behold, NFL.com's Albert Breer wrote last week that "off-field concerns" will hurt Mallett's draft stock. A couple of months late, but better late than never, I guess.

Mallett has major red flags. In addition to these "off-field concerns," he's a moron who may score single digits on his Wonderlic (even if they give him five points for spelling his name correctly). His release is painfully slow (think Byron Leftwich). He has no mobility. And he has the same sense of entitlement as Matt Leinart and Jimmy Clausen.

Having said all that, there will be several teams interested in the second round, including the Bengals and Cardinals. Both teams have a history of ignoring character concerns, and Ken Whisenhunt may see Mallett as just too physically talented to pass up. And I couldn't really blame him at this juncture.

This bandwagon might have just crashed into a telephone pole.

Two sources tell NFLDraftMonsters that Mallett has done marijuana and cocaine.

Seriously, who hasn't done a little angel dust? It gives you wings.

lol j/k

Wow, I hope that isn't true. It would suck for a kid to ruin is future with a drug problem.

This is one quarterback to stay away from

Favre, Big Ben, Mallett... What do these guys have in common?
ALL are big time gunslingers, 2 of them own rings, and NONE are saints!

If you wanted to draft a boyscout, bring back NOLAN! I want our team to finally draft a QB that has some balls to do some damage. What has our angel Alex done in last 6 years?

Mallett obviously cannot move like Vick... but he does OK in the pocket, reminds me of Flacco and Payton. He torched SEC elite defenses every darn week and he talks and walks with confidence! CAN YOU SAY LEADER!

13 games: 64.7Comp% 3869Yds 9.4Avg 32TDs 12INT

Stop acting like biatches and draft a dude that is gonna stand tall and carve the defenses with his arm. LET's GET MALLETT!

Derek Anderson 2.0
There is really no debate that Mallett has the best passing ability of any QB in this draft class. No other QB can make all the throws he can. His "lack of mobility" is way too over blown. Think Flacco/Palmer. The velocity on his throws is truly exceptional. The ball jumps off his hand much like Rodgers.

The issue with him is that he's had off the field trouble with drugs. I believe that is correctable at the NFL level. A good organization can keep an eye on him and make sure he's getting proper treatment if necessary.

The one thing that scares me about him is that he comes from the Petrino system. It doesn't really ask a lot of a QB as far as reading coverages. But, then again idk how many systems outside of Stanford's do require a QB to read coverages. GM's and coaches will find out real quick when they start chalk talking.

If there were ZERO off the field worries, i wouldn't be shocked to see him go top 5 or 10.
